Any info on Kyle Eckel

Eckel was a promising FB out of the Naval Academy we picked up from NE. He had been allowed to play while completing his service committment. Once with the Phins, he was ordered to full time duty and was placed on the military reserve list.
In days past guys like Roger Staubach had to do 4-5 years before coming into the league. Now a player can do two years of active duty and 6-8 years of reserve duty to fulfill their service requirement. If Kyle chooses that route he will be available for camp in 2007. I hope that happens, Beasley has some age and Eckel looked good in his short amount of pro-work.

I doubt eckel will do more than a 2 years active duty. He's more important to the navy playing football and recruiting new enlistee's... but he has to pay the devil his flesh first. i see him coming back next year...

Yes he is actually about 3 piers down from my ship. He is onboard the USS Kearsarge. He has one more year before he is eligible to apply for early release. Chances are it will be approved.

Once he honors his active duty commitment, we better hope they don't "call his number" for a tour in IRAQ!
