Any new news on Corey Simon's situation?

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports free agent DT Corey Simon (Eagles) said Tuesday, Aug. 30, that he is intrigued by the thought of playing for the Miami Dolphins. "There's definitely some interest there," said Simon, who attended Ely High. "But at this point in time, there's nothing to talk about." Head coach Nick Saban declined to say whether he had interest in Simon or any other recently released players.

That was from kffl today, other then that i havent heard anything.

We'll be a stepping stone for him to get a big contract with another team. We have one of those every year. I don't think we've had it yet this season. I just have a feeling.

I think this has been blown out of proportions. Until the sides agree to meet and negotiate there is no new news. His agent said he has interest, as they do to every team that inquires. Miami inquired to see what was involved. I have yet to see anything anywhere to indicate this is anywhere near a serious situation. Until then I would not be chomping at the bit for a signing.

I am not sure is he fits in here. I like him, but for the amount of money he wants and with us having the young guys in Shaw, Vickerson and Wright, to go with the vets in Zgonina, Carter, Traylor and Holliday, I don't know if we want to tie up a large portion of money in the guy

i agree and so does cris carter.....

The Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle doesn't make enough plays. He's never really been a big factor. Basically, he only makes two plays a game.

I think when these guys get into the league, they feel they need to get stronger. Stronger doesn't always mean bigger, though. He is a lot bigger than I ever remembered him. It's hard for him to find the right playing weight. The longer he stays out of training camp, the less chance he'll be able to play up to his potential.

The only "fear" will be the fear that we won't have money next year to improve the team.

Im not high on signing Simon we have ZG and Holliday to fill the inside passrush role and a lot of youth behind them..would he be an upgrade sure he would but we have MUCH bigger needs.

too expensive save that money for a QB

I read somewhere(espn.com i think) that he taking bids and plans on making a decission early next week

Thats what I am worried about too.If we were a SB contender I could understand tweaking the cap in order to fit Simon in but just about the time we will be a playoff contender we will have to trade or get rid of top notch players we need to get us over the top because they are too big of a hit on the cap.

We need to save some cap money to sign top notch OL and possibly a QB.
