any injury updates for us folks out west? i thought RT was seeking a 2nd opinion today.
any local reports or rumors or anything else?

i garbled that subject line; sorry.

No updates today that I have seen, particularly on the second opinion, possibly tom when there back to practice.

Just to be clear, he is saying possibly tomorrow ... not possibly torn. The latest was that it is a sprain (which technically is a small tear) but we have not been told the degree, but still less than what they would call torn.

thanks. yeah, knew about the sprain slant.

will be interesting to get Ryan's take. he was studying to be orthopoefic surgeon and heading to med school if NFL didnt call. He'll be more involved than your typical patient qb.

NFL injury update: QBs Ryan Tannehill and Matt Stafford in the spotlight

@INJURYEXPERT

There’s a ton of injuries around the league, including several to playoff-ticketed quarterbacks, so let’s jump right into it:

Ryan Tannehill, Miami (sprained left knee)
A sprain is a tear. The biggest failure of my career is that, somehow, this is not yet understood. The simple fact is that any tearing of a ligament is a sprain, from the very minor (Grade I) to the very severe (Grade III). The word that most people misuse is “tear.” I think what they actually mean is “rupture,” a complete tearing of the ligament.

Enough with the syllogisms. What Tannehill has is a Grade II sprain of his ACL rather than a rupture, plus a Grade II sprain of his MCL. There’s no note of any meniscus issue, but those three tend to go together, so much so that there’s a name for it, O’Donoghue’s triad, or the terrible triad. Is the pair of sprains better or worse than what was expected for Tannehill after Sunday’s game? Maybe better. For now, Tannehill doesn’t head immediately to surgery. He has an injury and a return path very similar to what Robert Griffin III had a couple years ago in Washington, and we know how that turned out.

I don't think Ryan plays again this season...but he'll be fully ready to go in 2017.

wonder if one of those bulky knee braces would have helped, the type linemen in the ncaa often wear and carson palmer himself. going forward if he comes back this year im sure he will have to wear one.

I don't know what's going on, only the team does, but here's what I know:

Mike Pouncey was put on IR today.

Ryan Tannehill was not.

Think about that for a moment.

Maybe we all need to recognize that our LT needs to be Laremy Tunsil and not Albert.
