I saw him blow up the back field a few times last night. Etc when the cowboys were at 1st and goal inside the 5 he blew by his defender and tackled the rb for a loss of yards. It set the tone for the rest of the drive and the cowboys only got a fg.
 
If we get anything for him I would be happy. I would cut him outright myself. Baker has looked better...although against the 2/3's.
 
Yea I'm definitely glad that he showed up last night. Pumped up his value so we can get some good returns if we do end up trading him.
 
I wouldn't trade him. langford odrick merling starks make for an AMAZING rotation.

Although most of this is true I seem to remember a pretty big play made by Merling in the game we clinched the AFC east titkle in 2008. Since we won by 7 and had a defensive score it feels like a pretty big play.
 
His true trade value will be during the season when someone suffers an injury on another team and with a base salary of 700K it would be completey stupid to cut him as was stated above by Dr. Phin above. But he is a FA after this year so we realyl should get some sort of trade to happen ASAP.
 
If he's THAT cheap, keep him. All these people talking trade are assuming our own DE's stay healthy all year....

Yeah we also have Baker, McDaniel too.. Merling is expendable.. i wouldnt cut him but i will sure listen to trade offers if i were the dolphins. Especially for a RT, RG or TE
 
I'd trade him for anything, 5th, 6th or 7th before cutting him. You know Jets, Bills and Pats will try to pick him up just so they can get some inside info on us. Bills would probably start him.
