As anyone who has ever been at Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Dolphin/Dolphins/Landshark Stadium knows, the area around it is a dead zone. Not exactly in the Verizon kind of way, as I get better service there than at my house, but there is NOTHING around it.

Sure, there is a really unsafe neighborhood close to it, as well as a WalMart, a wore down hotel like a mile away, as well as a Horse Racetrack a mile away as well. But that isn't going to drive people into the area.

Steve Ross is a great business man as he has shown so far. He has publicly said that he wants the Fins Gameday to be a mixture of winning football and entertainment. Makes perfect sense. What he will do, we do not know yet. What I do know though is that the stadium was just upgraded, so we won't be constructing a new one any time soon.

But what he should do, is make the area around Dolphins Stadium the place to be on gameday, and around the year as well since we only have 8 Home Regular Season Games.

Many sports franchises have made the areas around the stadium the place to be year-round, and have revived those previously dead areas.

What I propose is a combination of a small mall(as Aventura Mall is sort of close and there's no way it could compete with it), a movie theater, a Miami Dolphins Museum, many restaurants obvously, with many of them being Sports Bars, and hotels so visiting fans(not opposing) could stay there.

I think it could increase attendance, increase revenue(which could be spent on players), and attract more big events, like SuperBowls and concerts. as well as increase our own gameday experiences.

It also means that people like you and me would be able to go to games on a more regular basis as you could just leave the wife/mom/sister/gf at the mall and go to the game with your friends.

What do you guys think?

Wayne was gonna build an entertainment complex around the stadium. I guess he decided to spend the money on a giant ivory dildo instead.

It was a good post I guess nobody knows what the plans are...

It's an interesting point that you make considering that he's a multi millionaire who in business is a real estate developer...

Maybe a Petsmart and a kennel in case you know who comes to town. Whatever those establishments can't service you could have done at the stadium after hours.... Sorry, I couldn't resist.

just fix the god damn parking.

Thats all i care about.

Half the stadium leaves before the games end because it takes 2 hours to get to the highway that is less than a 1/2 mile away.

But, if they build up around the stadium you would have other options for parking.

Yeah they should definitely build some things around the stadium to attract more people. The new marlins stadium is going to have tons of things around it and is advertised as the largest plaza surrounding any stadium in the US

I would imagine anything built in that hood, including schools, additional entertainment, new houses, ect would raise the property tax on that stadium.

I've only been to Landshark once and it was about 11 years ago and I was really young but I remembered the one thing about the stadium was that it was the ONLY thing in such a dead area. I think it would really help the experience on gameday if you had more hotels and places to chill like sportsbars, stores, and just something attractive to the general public. It really is a deadzone around the stadium and seems to have been that way for a while. It would be wise for Ross to think about that.

I'm fine with it being a giant empty void. Just fix the parking and let the tailgaters make the area(s) of attraction.

It's fitting that the stadium is just as dull as the area around it.

They built a strip mall with a Denny's just down 27th Avenue from there a year or two ago, but aside from that, there's just the random Wal-Mart, El Palacio sleaze hotel, and the ghetto.

Beautiful...

i never had any trouble getting out of the stadium, maybe that is because we never left early? try getting out of gilette and foxboro stadium that is a disaster.

One time, I went to the game alone, and my dad went to pick me up. Left our house 30 minutes before the game was over. Takes 20 minutes to get there. He didn't get to me until 3 hours after the game. Wasn't a packed house

And when I went with him against the Ravens in the regular season(wasn't a packed house at all), it took us over an hour and a half to get out, and we left with 2 minutes left in the game.
