There was all that talk and evaluation goin on with Casey Printers, anyone hear anything else, this kid looks awfully good. It wouldn't surprise me if Saban lets him kinda of fade from the radar and then try and snatch him up.

Well if he wants to be our developmental QB than that's fine, it saves us a draft pick but otherwise I don't know what he could do exactly for Miami.

NFL teams had to wait until a certain time frame in January in order to entertain ideas of signing him up.

Its illegal to make any offers before that date according to CFL regulations I understand.

Well he's turning 25 this season, only a year or so older than Whitehurst is turning, and playing in the CFL for those years I'm sure is equivalent to atleast playing in the NFL as a third stringer, so if we can sign him why not?

I don't think it is equivalent. But that is just me. Please don't scratch around the CFL for our future Nic.

The scoop on Printers:

He did very well in his work out down here. And he also worked out for several other teams. I dont know how he did in those work outs. Any teams that likes him has to wait till Jan 2 to offer him a contract (CFL rule). Also his CFL team is trying to get him back, they offered his a multi year, million plus contract. And according to his agent they will wait to see if any NFL offers him a contract before re-signing with the CFL.

It's a good thing the Houston Oilers didn't think that way (Warren Moon) or the San Francisco 49ers (Jeff Garcia). You sit there knocking the CFL, yet you've probably never watched an entire game.

You would be correct.

Printers doesn't want to go anywher unless he really feels he will have a good oppurtunity, even then, he wants to develop in the CFL before making the jump much like the most successful CFL qb's that made the jump. They all put in some good time up here and are the only ones to do anything in the NFL, a la Warren Moon, Jeff Garcia, Doug Flutie....

He'll sign a 2+1 here meaning the third year is his option year to make the jump to the NFL.

Ya I agree with you the other poster probably thinks Doug Flutie was a bad QB also!

Long time lurker, first time poster:

One thing I hope Mueller and Saban look at when they watch Casey is his shoulder. He "injured" it (some people thought it was a phantom injury, and that it was more him whining about being benched). But when he came back, his throws looked REALLY laboured, especially his deep ball. He threw a couple of bombs when he came back that looked WAY off.

One thing about Casey that people here may want to know, especially if all they see of him is his highlight clips: BC (Casey's team) had the absolute best receiving corps in the CFL, as well as a ridiculously bad O-Line. So when it looks like he's brilliantly avoiding a blitz and hitting one of his receivers, just know that all of their quarterbacks pretty much expected to have no time to throw, and that one of his four or five receivers was ALWAYS wide open - they were that good.

If Linehan is still our coordinator, I don't know if Casey has the arm strength to make the throws needed in our offence. I truly believe that some players are just better suited to the Canadian game, and that their skills won't translate well when they get to the Show. I think Casey may be one of those guys.
