I am not saying David Martin is a long term solution at TE, and I hope to see the Fins land another TE beast to play opposite Fasano next year...BUT, I have been impressed with Martin's play this year. He was godawful last year, and I have seen him make some very tough catches this season. Honestly, it is a pretty impressive 180 from last year's struggles.

Is anyone else pleasantly surprised by this guy?

Absolutely.. man did I want him GONE far away suring the offseason... Almost everyday I was screaming for his release.. Thank god im not the GM of this team

yeah he's playing pretty big right now... he's made a couple 20 yard catches in double coverage... he's just catching it..
he's let some DE's and Lb's go into the backfield from what i've seen too though, he's playing well.. but he could be better

and i dont think we need to draft a TE, we actually have good depth there

I was going to start the same thread. He is playing lights out.
Everything that goes his way, he's catching. I'm very impressed.

Martin looks great this year. It's like he's a brand new player.

Martin has played tough and made some great catches in traffic. I think of him more as a big WR than a TE.

Martin is playing the best ball of his career although his career has been suspect. I am very pleasantly suprised at his play as a receiver, will never love him as a blocker but as a number two he has been good.

exactly. And last year his catching and run after the catch ability was never the question. It was his Extremely poor blocking, now Fasano has come in and does a much better job on that.
Honestly, after this past game, I have decided that Sparano needs to convert him to a WR. He blocks like crap, but is huge and can make some sick catches. It seems only logical to convert him to our big body receiver to go up and get those tough balls, red zone included. And it looks like his transformation is already under way.....

Yes, David Martin and Anthony Fasano have been really the only consistent players on the offense. I'm very surprised by the play of Martin, and quite surprised that Fasano has developed into the weapon he's been also.

surprised??? didn't you see him last season? I was always yellin at people about there irrational hate of David Martin. i still have some of last season's games, Martin had several 5 and 6 catch games and I knew we were bringing him back.

that's why when he continues to do what he was already doing from mid to the end of the season last year...im not surprised.

the one's i am surprised at are the irrational posters that continued to bash the guy although tape to us otherwise.

it's just like this season, people irrationally just following speculation and any article that a media pundit puts out there and they just ride a bandwagon against a particular player.

Ginn sucks, Wilford sucks, Jason Allen sucks...this is what you continue to hear.

Yet, I look at tape, and Ginn shows me a talent in the making, Wilford caught passes and TDs for JAC last season(led them in receptions matter of fact), and Jason Allen led MIA in INTs last season....but all because these guys haven't been given the opportunity to perform this season, oh they MUST suck. Ok?

No, Im not surprised at all....Martin's been doing this since mid last season.

He has always caught well, it was just that he was such a crappy blocker that was my issue with him. He is doing much better at blocking...not changes needed in offseason at TE...

I'm surprised....he droped more passes last year than I want to remember but this year he's been catching everything...maybe he's just better as a 2nd TE than as the starter

Ozzy rules!!

He's playin well, both T.E's are,but we could probably use them a little better.
