Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports Carolina Panthers QB Chris Weinke wants to see if he can land a job as a starting quarterback with another team before he comes back as the Panthers' backup quarterback. There may not be the clean shot at a starting job he's hoping for. If he's going to be a backup, it's been made clear the Panthers would love to have him back.







He is scheduled to be an UFA.

no thanks. The guy won't automatically get a starting job, he'll have to compete in camp for it. If that's the case, back to Carolina for him.
in terms of the Dolphins, any veteran quarterback should understand that they are only keeping the seat warm until the rookie hier apparent steps in. Frerotte has another year tops, and Chris would get the same. This will get more obvious after the draft, when we actually get a promising quarterback!

no, because if he did, he'd get mad, just like Frerotte will, because what's going to happen to the vet, is gonna be just like what happened to Trent Dilfer, start a few games, then let the Rookie take over(like I said, Trent Dilfer starts for a while, then Charlie Frye comes in to take over, just like they planned)
