I looked back 4 pages and there wasn't a topic on it, if their was then lock it. I realize he isn't on the team anymore or anything, but still kind of interesting.

He talked about how the relations he had with Saban made him think that Saban would not like to have Ricky on the Dolphins at all, but instead is just gaining him and hyping him up to trade him for any kind of value, on a small contract, most preferabbly a draft pick, late one probably.

He also hinted at saying he had not talked to Ricky in 9 months, and that most people in the lockerroom and him wouldn't want to welcome him back so easily.

yup, thats about it

**** changes. Last time Konrad was in the lockeroom **** might have been different who knows people change there mind maybe Saban convinced them all to except it.

i think he meant more of Saban not wanting to deal with people like that, who don't really have the will to play

This is one of my main concerns with bringing Ricky back. I know some players have come out and said they would take him back, but I can guarantee there are players who won't forgive him and don't want him back. It would seem to cause friction between Saban and those players. I still think if he comes back he will either be traded this year, or just to show him off a bit and increase his value for a trade next year.

if Saban does want him back to contribute, those angry players better get their head around it and keep it to themselves.... or else THEY will be the distraction, not Ricky...

I also think Saban will look at it that way. If he makes the decision to bring RW back, then the team better back him.

Agreed. They don't have to like Ricky. Ricky doesn't have to like them. But they have to both be able to TOLERATE each other and not let it become a distraction.

I think Rob Konrad needs to button it and go on with his lovely post-football life he always raves about being so smart to set up. I applaud Konrad for being smart with his loot, but the bottom line is, regardless of whose fault, Konrad didn't come close to filling the shoes many football fans expected him to when leaving Syracuse.

It just annoys me to hear someone of Konrad's status and past worth constantly showing up on radio interviews now trying to tell people what is going on. Sure he was closer than most, but I dont find him to be a glowing ray of informational light

Well, I think it is pretty damn ridiculous that some of you think Ricky will just waltz back into the locker room and everything will be all rosey and hunky dory fine. These players aren't going to accept him back, and the worst thing Nick Saban can do is to force Ricky Williams upon them. I do hope that Nick is hyping him up with hopes of dealing him, because I don't want this quitter anywhere near the Dolphins.

As an athlete, there are things that can be forgiven. Quitting the way Ricky did isn't one of them. The guy is a flake, and the best case scenario will have his teammates constantly wondering when he will flake out again.

theres no way we can trade ricky, look at james and alexander no one wanted to trade for them! we'll keep him and ronnie, build up our o-line and run run run

A Couple Things .....

A few things to contemplate and ponder re Ricky's impending return , and I think we all should be prepared for just that ....his eventual return.

The biggest is the leadership / mentor factor that Nick Saban will provide. The difference between Saban and Wanny is almost immeasurable in that area. We have seen that already with Saban and it will just become more evident.

It is and will again be more pronounced with Ricky though . He NEEDS someone like Nick Saban to direct him , keep him pointed in the proper direction. Someone Ricky can place his trust in whole heartedly. He has to believe, empatically , blind trust....and I forsee that happening here.

Nick Saban is also strong enough in every area to weather any and all questions , hesitancies from any players. This is Nick Saban's team ...no one else's ... if anyone believes differently , well IMO that is foolhardy. It will be his way and yes he will take other considerations to heart , but he will decide what is or isn't best for HIS team.

When interviewed last year , in what was a much more unsettled and leaderless situation , Zach Thomas said he would take Ricky back... " I just want to win " was his comment. So can a renewed , refreshed , commited Ricky help a team win? Of course he can...let's not forget the beast he has been. A beast that has had little else around him at that.

Saying that , NO ONE is expecting Ricky to be the focal point... so we are not banking on that or him. We have a very promising feature back that may prove to be more that adequate. At the least Ricky is a HUGE upgrade at the number 2 spot. Also Ronnie Brown showed he could share a backfield...something we should not dismiss.... he can play a myriad of spots in multiple formations.

Ricky simply has value....at the least a minimum value... from there who knows? It would not be prudent for Saban to not take the steps to incorporate him into the fold.

Anyone that has experience personally with someone that has a disorder such as Ricky does , also knows there are peaks and valleys. Ebb and flow.... and occasionally they hit a real low...and wallow in it... They do come back though...and when they do , invariably they are "better " for a substantial period of time.

Sooooo .... I am sure Nick Saban knows this.... Ricky may be on the verge of a few uninterrupted "UP" years... no one should doubt what he is capable of on the football when he is healthy , both mentally and physically.

Add to that the vastly superior situation this organization is in ... that has to take weight off from the dependance point and add to excitement as far adding a proven , yes proven bigtime bonafide beast. Miami is lucky to be in a situation to ease him back... to not have to count on him to be the only offensive weapon and most of all to have an utterly undisputed magnetic , charismatic , highly intelligent , visionary leader in Nick Saban.

People may not like what Ricky did , agreed , but he is coming back , and I am in agreement and have zero doubts that Nick Saban will not have that negatively affect HIS football team.

Just too too much upside re the downside.... risk / reward .... like most things in life...

This is is 100% worth the risk , IMO .

Funny. Rob Konrad wouldn't take Williams back.

What happened to him again? That's right we cut him.

then what's the alternative for these combative players then? create a rift and jeapordize the season because they refuse to work with Ricky and spew attitude? even though ricky will be coming back with his head hung low? then they are fools, jeopardizing their OWN career and reputation with Saban... they weren't the ones being run 50 times into a good Bills' defense and behind a patchwork O-Line...

and, if there is ANY line of work where ANYTHING can be forgiven, it damn sure is the world of professional sports,...perhaps moreso than any other field... right or wrong... we've seen it a million times...

imho, all Ricky needs to do is offer a sincere apology to the clubhouse just once... and all is over with... they'll embrace him if he merely takes that humbling step... and i feel ricky will do that, in his own way...

maybe with his helmet on...

1. No one is saying he will waltz back in and there will eb a big love fest.

2. It is pretty interesting to see that you can speak for players and their feelings now  Obviously you are forgetting they know what it feels like now for the first time in their pro careers to be 4-12 and the laughing stock of the NFL. If you think Zach/JT/etc. are that dumb to think it was RWs fault they went 4-12, you arent on the correct page.

3. This isn't the first time i have heard you and others mention something along the lines of "as an athlete" or "I've been on teams"...big deal! Probably most of us here have been!! Were you ever on a #1 ranked team in the nation? I know I was...
