Since the Patsies were caught with that whole spygate they have not been the same. I wonder how much of their dynasty is because of that cheating ******* Belicheat.

Didn't they go 18-1 after Spygate? I mean they didn't win the Superbowl but that was a pretty good year for them. What happened was that their defense is just awful.

Havn't been the same? They did run the table all the way to the superbowl after the whole spygate thing....

So what happened to 18-1?

They were caught in week 2 of that 18-1 season. Went 11-5 in the season after that, and are 7-5 this season on the heels of Tom Brady's serious knee injury and the fact that they simply can't play defense. It's not spygate, but the power balance has definitely shifted and the Patriots are no longer as immortal as they once were.

The Pats can't win without Wiess. Ever since Weiss left they haven't won a Super Bowl. Moss was the reason their offense was so powerful in 2007. They failed to win the "Big One", as the Vikings did when Moss was there, and defenses have figured out that Brady folds like a lawn chair when pressured.

The Pats Dynasty has lived and died with their defense and Weiss.

Give me a break.

Their offense has been unstoppable since Weis left. Better than it ever was when he was there.

Their defense on the other hand has been pure garbage since the changing of the guard in New England. Without Bruschi-Vrabel-McGinest-Harrison etc they just can't stop anybody.

I honesty think that whole franchise has cheated for success.. not just the last decade. you guys remember the snow game we had against them i think in 82. hehe

It's the defense, the defense is the biggest difference for NE. Bad DE's, no pass rush and average CB's. Potentially great offense but a lousy defense, reminds me of people here who think a #1 receiver will put us over the top. Defense is the key, we need to fix the defense and then worry about the O.

The defense has always been the weak link and it stands out more now because the offense is aging. Although I won't say their run is over, it's close.

Actually, 18-1 the same season they were caught is still dealing w. residual benefits of stolen info. People really need to buy a clue if they think, "Oh, they got caught in week two and got no benefits after that!"

Too funny, lol.

Here's what I say: what they gained even in the year they got caught, was worth more than a single 1 round draft pick! And what they gained in the four years was worth about ten times more, imo. Easy.

If you have a high percent chance of knowing where to be on the field, you can pick up ancient players -- as long as they can be coached up and fairly intelligently guided -- and beat great teams.

Without those keys, not so much.

The Giants SB win against the Pats was probably credited as much to the Pats not being able to steal information in the year previous as it was to the schemes of the game itself.

Pats were stymied and outplayed by an inferior team in that SB loss. Curious, if a *genius* Belicheat has two whole weeks to prepare, no? lol -- the real issue is that he just didn't have spygate info, and suddenly looked human.

In their late season preview to the bowl, no taping was allowed... hence the Giants gained more than the Pats.

Pats have not been the same since the 18-1 season and it's not about Brady.

On those 3 NE super bowl teams, their defense was ranked 6th or better in each of those 3 years.

Not the case anymore with their current D.

I don't get why they traded Seymour when they still have Brady and Moss..

Windows to win close quickly in the NFL.. when you have elite players like Moss and Brady who can score pts in their 30's, you try to load up to win another one before they call it quits (or decline). Not trade key pieces like Seymour away

Moreover, their drafts over the past few years haven't been as good as some people may think. Before they traded down, I thought it was a for sure thing that they would draft Clay Matthews. He would have fit in perfectly on their 3-4 defense. Or even Maualuga, but moreso Matthews.

heck, I thought Matthews would be our pick when we were on the clock.

Darius Butler has been a disappointment. You notice teams always going to Butler's side. Thank god we picked Vontae and not Butler there.

How has their offense been unstoppable? Giants stopped them. Denver stopped them. The Colts stopped them. 5 teams have stopped them this season so far. How are they unstoppable?

With Weiss: 3 Super Bowls

Without Weiss: 0 Super Bowls

With Weiss the defense ranked: 6, 17, 1, 2

Without Weiss the defense ranked: 17, 2, 4, 8 and 7 this season before yesterday's game.

Seems pretty good to me with or without Weiss.

As I have written plenty of times; the Pats can't win when their defense is ranked lower than 6th.

However, the facts prove that they also can't win without Weiss calling the plays.
