He was advertised as a staunch disciplanarian, a no-nonsense guy who would tear into anyone not buying into his system..

I dont think we got that.. Other than the Manny Wright thing, I havent really seen him tear into anybody..And when I thought I would see a raving lunatic on the sidelines, I see a man clapping after missed FG attempts..

Now, Im not saying Saban isnt agood coach, and wont do some great things in the future, I just was expecting a completely different personality.. In the offseason people made him out to be another Coughlin type.. He seems to be more of an Andy Reid type.

Give Saban a chance. Like Baltimore, the Jets, and the Bills we have NO qb...and that's why we suck like those teams suck. It's not the coach.

NO QB = NO WINS

Im not really talking about his coaching ability, but rather his personality.. He is just alot more tame than I was expecting.. Unless he just doesnt show that side the media.

You answered your own question, he is intelligent enough to know that most of the time it serves no purpose to publically berate his players.

Remember, the media has been removed from the training facilityand your not going to get as much public dirt as you used too.

Quite honestly, I'll take Andy Reid! He's about as good a coach as the league has seen over the past 10 years.

I think Saban knows enough to keep it "all in the family," choosing to be strict with players behind closed doors, rather than publically. Seemed like he was that way at LSU too.

I'm giving Saban three full years to show what he can do. Our players just aren't that good overall. We have some real talent, but we have guys who are extremely overrated too (Madison???).

Give it time. Jimmy Johnson (Damn me for bringing up that name) was 1-15 his first year in Dallas. BB was 5-11 his first season in NE. Jury's out!

i don´t like how he prepares the team for their first posession , geez we gave up another TD on the 1st drive on defense, thats the 6 time in 10 games i think

I would have to say we dont know what Saban is doing. We dont know what he is saying to the team behind closed doors. I would say I am dissapointed in the teams discipline or lack of. But we have no idea what goes on during practice, half time or at the end of game. A quote from the Herald

"All told, it was a recipe for a drubbing and afterward. Saban kept the locker room closed longer than usual as he addressed his players in what some players described as a very stern and intense voice."

I think he's a damn good coach, but he needs alot more time than us fans want for it to take to turn this thing around.

I'm just trying to remember these games so when we are a dominating team we can all look back at these kinds of games and just shake our heads and kind of grin and say " man did we suck"...

but we gotta have patients too, all in time. Saban is a good coach and will turn it around.

This is something that has bothered me all along. The teams we play know we have a weakness with our defense the first time they are on the field. They are soooooo flat it's pathetic. If our opponents can see it and use it against us, where is our coaching staff that they can't see it, and try to correct it?

In fact Saban has stated as much in more than one press conference.

And we used to dominate the 3rd quarter too -- now that's changed.
