JSU's Darren Williams Signs with Miami Dolphins

Jacksonville State defensive back Darren Williams signed a free-agent NFL contract with the Miami Dolphins earlier this week and joined the team’s mini-camp on Friday.

I don't think this is accurate. I believe he was involved in a tryout, and didn't sign a contract, but the team site says he signed one. He is not on the roster.

Which team site reported it, Jacksonville State?

We are at our full roster number, in fact one over with Forio, but we assume McNeil is on "Reserve: Did not Report". The only way we signed anyone is if someone else got let go. The only candidate for that might be Kimble, who was reported to have injured an achilles at rookie camp. If he has been released or put on some kind of reserve list that would have opened a roster spot.

Probably you are correct and the report has confused, "invited for try-out" with "signed as an undrafted free agent"

Williams played for the Game****s after transferring from Mississippi State and was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer squad after leading the team with three interceptions. He finished the season with 56 tackles, which was third on the squad.

The Clarksdale, Miss., native was a two-time OVC Player of the Week and becomes the second JSU player to sign with an NFL team after Rod Olds signed with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday.

I believe they are wrong, or this is one of those delayed announcements.

It's not a mistake, we sign and dump tons of guys throughout this whole process. You are just an avid fan tryin' to dig up all the info that you can. No big deal. When we get Ahmad Brooks in the supplimental, it will be posted that day, so don't sweat it. We will know when the important stuff happens.
