Looking at the offensive performance today, a couple of things stood out.

1. Even though we weren't particularly effective running the ball, we didn't abandon the run.
I was pissed that the offense put themselves in so many 2nd and long and 3rd and long situations, but they bucked the trend today and actually performed well on 3rd down. One key I believe was to consistently stick with the run...even when it wasn't working. This made the play action pass an effective weapon throughout the game.

2. Zac Taylor ditched most of the gimmick routes today and made Tannehill a downfield passer. IT WORKED!
I think most of us hated Lazor's dink and dunk approach and felt that the route combinations were too predictable. Today we saw more downfield concepts and even some specific plays designed to take advantage of matchups (D. Williams and J. Cameron vs. linebackers)

3. The O-line still sucks, but moving the pocket and sticking to the run really helps.
Playing without 2 starters was daunting, and Dallas Thomas still stinks, but did you notice how much better the protection is when the defense has to guess?

4. Tannehill might have found something these last few weeks.
Not sure why we're only seeing it in these last 4 weeks, but Tannehill's movement in the pocket and his ability to slide away from pressure has been MUCH improved. I'm hoping his offseason film study and physical training includes more specific drills to really make this ability a strength next

He could do the Rocky style chase a chicken... then throw the ball through a tire 30 yards away. I should be a trainer.

Mobility is RT's strength. Having a 'fluid' OL helps as hat on hat is not their strength.

Anyone who wants to make Ryan a pocket passer and/or go back to "blue collar" football needs to see a psychiatrist.

On #4....I think they took the shackles off him......let him just make some plays. I believe the offensive scheme earlier in the year called for him to just sit in the pocket and get rid of the ball quickly.

Honestly, to me....it looks like he is having fun out there now.

I noticed we actually used our TE's for some key first downs.

This is the first game I have watched in several weeks but it looked more like the difference was execution.

I've noticed too that Tannehill's movement has gotten a lot better.

Not really. I noticed the change on the defense today. Dline stuffed the run, the linebackers were exceptional, good pressure on the QB and getting the pats off the field on third down. The offense controlled the clock well but 20 points is the status quo for this team.

Still threw the ball short of the sticks by design still lost on repeat on early and 4th down on the los still ran the toss sweeps everytime sims shifted inside the formation as a dead give away

Yes there was some more vertical concepts but the only reason we scored today was the qb was able to overcome some serious 3rd and 10 or more on repeat

Which is not sustainable

I did see a few trying to get away from tendencies but concepts wise all the same

Burn this play book in a burn barrel

Thanks, I had thought Zac Taylor self-scouted and then used his magic 8-ball.

He tried stretch he tried pistol and these bums just kept losing at the los on repeat
