Does anyone know of any team(s) out there with a surplus of starter quality RT's that would need some help on the D-line. I'd put P. Merling on the trade block and do so before final cuts...

You wont get a starting RT for Merling so you'd have to look at some teams that have depth at RT and there aren't many.

I would def do it, but this front office and coaching staff is in love with columbor because he is a former cowboy and it gets me sick because he is washed up and his knees are shot. The best we can hope for is either we scan the waiver wire because teams have to cut player by tomorrow, or we could sign o'hara or waters and kick carey back out to RT, or we could put murtha out to RT when Long gets back, honestly if it was up to me I would sign O'hara and let him play center and kick pouncey out to RG and move carey back to RT and our OL would look like this: LT Long, LG Icognito, C O'hara, RG Pouncey, RT Carey.

Merling is definitely on the trade block. I believe that is why he started the TB game. The Dolphins were showing him off.

The saints 1st and 2nd string line was moving the ball expecially the run game. We need to be looking at their lost to be out gain.

Why not jsut move Carey back to RT. He did a good job and hes obviously better @ RT then RG. Move Gardner or Jerry to RG and call it a day. Columbo sucks!!

Teams know we want to get rid of Merling and to be honest he has been a huge bust considering he was basically a 1st rounder. Nobody is going to give up a starting right tackle(what we would want) for a backup DE

Now if we start talking about trading Starks, we might actually get somewhere. I love Starks just as much as anybody, but we can plug Odrick in his spot who has been a beast rushing the passer thus far. And we aren't paying him 1st round money to be a backup

I think the only d linemen that is worth trading at this point is Starks and I also think he is the only one that would draw a quality player in return..Merling wont.

There must be someone out there available for Merling who is better than Columbo.

So Merling has become the newest Channing Crowder. The guy that sucks, that everyone mentions in trade scenarios hoping to get back starting material, and (more importantly) that no other team wants. I suspect Crowder's "retirement" shortly after being cut was forced one.

Nobody is going to trade for Philip Merling. He's not good.

While right tackle is an issue it is the guard play that is killing Miami.

Merling looked pretty good to me. He was in on many plays and didn't get pushed around too badly. He is better than Baker and I like Baker.

On what basis are you calling Merling a bust. He might be the best pass rusher in the bunch. He is in on a lot of plays and does not get pushed aournd. He certainly is not perfect, but he is far from a bust.
