Anyone seen Cam Smith ?

I think because of his experience, the coaches don't want to allow him to play yet.

They did not give Gink a chance to prove he was a better option rushing the QB, but once allowed, proved them wrong.

They did not think Achane deserved to be out there this early, but once they were forced to give him a shot, he proved he should have been out there earlier.

I like Fangio, and have no doubt in the end, he will get it done to bring a defense we can count on, but if they're holding back Smith because he needs to pay his dues 1st on only special teams, then he's doing a huge injustice to the defense if he does not know if Smith can do a better job in coverage then what we have.

There was a post a few days ago with someone saying there were plays on D where 4-5 players were standing around (sometimes together). Apparently weren't certain of their assignments. And none of them were rookies. Maybe it will take CS some time to get the assignments down. we know he looked like a natural CB in the PS

Having an excellent camp and preseason means **** if you don't play in games.

It means he was excellent In camp and preseason, but has not been given a chance to fail or succeed.

Don Shula had arguably the greatest passer in history, but he was a Rookie, and Woodly was their SB QB, so they sat Marino until they were forced to give him a shot...Was Marino a failure when he was riding the Pine?

You are the type of person that probably thinks Tindall will still make an impact at some point as well. You can't admit that he has been a bust. If Cam Smith was having an excellent camp and preseason then he should be playing. I doubt other teams would be sitting him on the bench if that was the case.

Sitting behind a qb who was just in a superbowl, is a little different than sitting behind these secondary players.

Perhaps! But I’m starting to think some of these coaches need to get out of theirselves.

Meaning a Cam Smith maybe able to play but the coach has a thing about soemthing therefore they sit.

Vic definitely comes across as that type of guy.
Possibly, and there was no reason for these guys to not get serious playing time in that blowout. Especially with the reason for the blowout, was the guys they would be replacing.

I don't remember seeing him play this year.
Is he injured? Not ready for the big league?
Probably hanging out with igboimanotherbust 🤷‍♂️. Hopefully he’s improving in every practice but he should at least be on special teams you’d think 🤔

Okay my bad he was a 3rd round pick but that still doesn't change the fact that he has been a bust so far and it's not like the Dolphins have very good linebackers to being with!
I think you are fair enough when it comes to Tindall.

When you say Smith is a bust after four games when he did show good skills in camp is premature.

Well all I know is if Smith is doing so good there would be no reason for him not to start at this point.

You seem to be the type of person to make judgements on what you see, without knowing what is going on behind the scenes...A many have failed jumping to conclusions like that.

There are only just a few true facts on Smith...

-He looked like a top Corner in College.

-He looked like a top Corner in the Off-season.

-He has great physical tools to succeed in NFL, but has not played a regular game.

Everything else is just you Assuming.

I'm sure there a few for sure. I know Gonzalez was tearing it up for the Patriots before he got hurt. Diggs was a stud rookie for the Cowboys. Same with Sauce Gardner for the Jets last year. I'm sure there are even some that have been drafted in the 2nd and 3rd round who have contributed right away. It does happen but you have to be able to draft the right players and Grier misses the mark most of the time when it comes to that.
Sauce... the 4th overall pick? I get your point that some dudes do step in immediately, even 2nd/3rds, but even so - writing a kid off after not being in 4 games is outright asinine

No because if he was so good he would be playing right now. Proof is in the pudding as they say.

Fangio should play the kid.
Yes. And what was the risk of him playing late in a 28-point loss to the Bills, after we had already benched guys like Tyreek and Waddle? What was the risk of playing him in a 50-point win over the Broncos, when the starting offense was relaxing on the sidelines?

Not necessarily, sometimes coaches are too conservative. No Ramsey, no Eli apple, no needham. Secondary isn’t playing great, what do you have to lose honestly?
