seems to me like every team that arrington has talked with so far says the same thing: he's asking for too much money. has anyone seen or heard what he's asking for? length of contract, signing bonus/guaranteed money? it's got to be more than peterson, and from the sounds of it alot more...

he is asking for around 6 mill a year and a long term deal. It was rumored to be about 7 years. I know someone with the texans who said he wanted around a 10 mill signing bonus as well. So the latest rumor would put that around 52 mill over 7.

Which would be right in line with JP's contract with Seattle... The consensus was him and JP were 1 & 2 LB's in FA.

Too much money, I hope we save it and pickup someone in the draft such as a Greenway or possibly resign Seau for another year.

Yeah... He is asking for:
too much of a signing bonus
too much guaranteed money and
too much annually

Not to be a smart***, but I think his, as was Peterson's price tag are just too high. Devoting Peterson type money would be a little crazy when we still need a back up QB and a kicker, not to mention signing our rookies.

Peterson's $$$
Peterson's agent, Kevin Poston, said Tuesday evening the contract is for $54 million over seven years and includes $18.5 million guaranteed. The deal is worth $10 million in the first year, $18.4 million in the second and $23.5 million in the third.

Consider also that Arrington and Peterson are both represented by the Poston brothers, which makes it even more likely that they'll dig their heels in and demand "Peterson money." Arrington won't be signing a contract any time soon.

he is not gonna get that money.......jax and miami and NY will not give him that....its going to boil down to where he likes better

jacksonville has to be one of the worst places to live....ever. At least their football team has a lot of history and tradition.

As said before, the Postons are both Arrington and Peterson's agent and its been rumored Arrington wants 6 mil a year for 7 years and 10 mil signing so as said, 52 mil over 7 years, which is right in line what Peterson got.

I dont think its possible to fit those numbers in with our cap. Figure a 10 mil signing bonus and a minimum base salary puts his cap hit at 2 million, add in McKinney, Allen, Hill, Beasley, FA signings during the season for injuries, and the rookies and there is no way that fits in our cap this year unless we have some major players take pay cuts.

What good is a "long term deal" in the nfl, where contracts aren't guaranteed? From what you said, all he'll get guaranteed is the signing bonus plus the first year's salary.

So a 10 mil bonus, 1 mil/year in years 1 -3, then 10 mil/year in years 4-7. That's 53 mil and a long term contract. Guess when he gets cut.
