I am so sick of the weak "consolation" statements such as but not limited to:

"Guys, we played the _________ and they are ________, we should be very happy about how we played"

"Guys we just played __________ and was in the game to the end, we should be happy"

Et al......

I am all for taking the good out of games but seriously IMO it is like getting a yellow 5th place ribbon...

Just sayin....

What do you want? The Patriots have more talent and the team played as good as their talent level would allow. If the receivers could catch and the rookie corners could have covered Moss we are talking about a different story. I'd say that there are very few corners in the league who can cover Moss, but that's obviously something you're not interested in hearing...

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. How about actually doing it. It is ok though. Here is your consolation trophy. It sure is purdy....

Commonly reffered to as seeing the big picture and being optimistic.

Glass half full/half empty theory.

Dude, I have been optimistic since 1983. Just saying....

However during those years we beat some pretty good teams, especially __________ of which we were so close. We should be happy...

Actually, I am more tired of hearing about all the negative stuff and forgetting the positive stuff. Its human nature but dolphin fans are the kings of negative even when we win.

Its too easy to see the negative. What is anyone seeing about the future of this team?

Some teams have no clue about how to get out of the basement even with good talent. I see things with this team through the long term vision of Parcells.

We obviously need to continue building through the draft and get some big playmakers. This coming draft will be a good one. find your favorite WR and start talkin! Its time to get two!

As long as we keep drafting how we have the past 2 years and moving where we are I am pretty excited about the future. I see the bigger picture here and didn't drink the kool-aid. Doesn't make these close losses any easier to swallow though. Rebuilding, especially in the phase we are, is gut wrenching because we are pretty much a play or two away from winning the game. We just don't have the experience right now.

We should jump ship to teams that are winning.

I'm tired of it too but what can you do? your not on the field. Your not calling the plays. I'm proud of our efforts, pissed at our play calling and our abuse of the wildcat. We can't execute a 2 minute drive to save our lives. We don't know what a screen pass is unless it involves Bess every 60 snaps. Look at the good teams, screen screen screen. We dont know how to react to a blitz.

I think we are on our way and like our direction. The schedule got the best of us this year, it was unreal but no excuse. We had most of these teams where we wanted them and blew it. We need to get pressure on the QB and probably get better safeties. I believe in us.

I am tired of people overreacting on this board. I am tired of a lack of perspective on this board. Given this post, I do not believe you have been optimistic since 1983. I accept that you might perceive that you are optimistic, but I just do not see it.

Those aren't excuses, those are facts. You are looking to rant, I'm telling you that we just simply aren't as good as the Patriots right now. As hard as it is to accept, that's the truth. I don't need a consolation prize, I'm grounded in reality.

Please. If your questioning my dedication to this team, don't. Optimism doesn't win superbowls. If it makes you sleep better at night, then go ahead and swallow your rah rah optimism ambien pills.

I am not knocking you but every week it is the same song and dance. Just calling it like I see it. The difference this time around is that our team has had two solid drafts and the pieces are starting to fall into place. The bigger picture is becoming clearer. This is a departure from the past two decades. Before it was load the offense for marino and ignore the defense. Then it was let's play ball control offense and load up the defense. Now it appears we are pushing for equality.

As I stated before, losing in the fashion we have been (a play or two away but we never seem to turn the page), it is frustrating.

I agree completely. We are what we thought we would be at the beginning of the season. It is disappointing because the team shows "flashes" of being something more...but we just have too many holes right now.

This I already know. Doesn't make it easier to swallow though. The good things are falling in place, as stated before. However, if you have been a dolphins fan for a long time, we have been saying the same crap for DECADES. That is all I am saying. I am putting faith in the F.O. and coaching staff to make the right choices as I always have. I feel differently this time around though. The bigger picture is coming clear and I like what I see. However don't be naive to think that this could all implode on itself as it did during the later part of the shula regime, wanny years, etc.

I am waiting for us to turn the page. I thought we did that at the end of last year with beating the Jets on the road and making the playoffs and winning the division. The schedule was the ultimate equalizer though and really showed the team for what they are. Great experience for the younger guys though.

Yeah I hear ya. I've been a fan since Marino's rookie year back in 83 and I think we all feel the pain, but all we can do is continue to cheer them on and hope as you say "the pieces fall into place". If anyone can pull this all together it's Parcells. I think we're getting there, but we still need a playmaker at the WR position and some defensive help.
