Dolphins | R. Wright leaves practice Friday, expected back Sunday
Sat, 6 May 2006 08:41:46 -0700
Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl">Miami Dolphins DL Rodrique Wright participated in morning and afternoon practices Friday, May 5, but left early due to a death in his family. He is expected to return Sunday, May 7.

Maybe the injury was a false alarm? How could one practice with a torn rotator cuff?

He can practice with it just like he played last year with it... The staff wants him to get it checked out so that if it is going to be a chonic they can get it fixed now instead of him playing hurt. Minimum one year rehab.

It just seems odd that a Dlineman can do swim move drills etc. with a torn rotator cuff.

He claimed he didnt even know he had the injury. That would indicate that it wasnt bothering him.

And furthermore, why would the Dolphins risk injuring it more or doing permanent damage just so he can participate in a few mini camp practices?

this is the 1st time ive seen anyone say this since sunday, and this is TRUE, b.c he said it himself in an interview, saban asked him about it, and he said he had no idea he even had an injury,

Its a strange one.Im sure Saban wouldnt want to damage it further by letting him turn out at mini camp so Wright must have been cleared to practice. A torn rotator cuff sounds serious but im no expert. Maybe someone on here might be more clued up on the injury.

if he was benching with free wieghts using the 160 lbs dumbells then he can swim move. if he was benching over 400 lbs then he can do swim moves.
how? i have no clue, but apparently he's been doing it for a while now

Waitaminute... I thought it was a done deal that this guy in fact HAD a bum shoulder. Why risk injury with some meaningless practice?

First, my thoughts and prayers go out to Wright regarding the death in his family.

As to the injury think of it as a small tear in a very fibrous, dense fabric. The tear itself creates an area of increased stress. Since it took an MRI to find it and MRI's have a resolution down to 3 millimeters it could be quite small. The fear is that the tear will increase and that the harder structures of bone will begin to rub against each other. Some of the drills which would include more rapid rotational movement might be a bit risky but this injury's greatest threat is to long-term diminishment of use. Since the drills were largely teaching drills the risk would have been very, very minimal.

What concerns me a little is whether or not he was able to be seen by the medical staff. That evaluation needs to be done so a course of action can be determined.

Outstanding reply. Thankyou.
Hopefully the Media will ask the question regarding Wrights injury and his chances regarding the coming season, then some light will be shed on the subject.
Thoughts go out on his loss.

the guy is a 7th round pick, who cares if he gets injured, i say that the dolphins force him to play through the pain and grind him out, if wansteddt was able to overuse ricky, then why cant we overuse some unrproven rookie, i hope the dolphins dont give him surgery, im sick of seeing rookies getting a free pass and getting paid for doing nothing, like matt roth, manny wright, will allen, need i say more? rodrique wright, your injury prone @ss better contribute!~

I think that only applies to a player who does a lot of throwing i.e QB, pitcher, outfielder.

the guy was a 7th round choice because of his injury....if that wasnt the case he probably would have been a 2nd or 3rd rd pick.
