Are the Bears.....

The NFC is weak so they have a shot but I think any of the top AFC teams will beat them.
 
I think they are Pretenders. They do have the top defense and a good running game going on, but they are still a few players away from being a contender to the SB. The Bears will prob get creamed in their 1st playoff game.
 
I think they are good, but I don't think they can win. All it will take is one mistake on defense to get them beat. Their offense is not good enough to bring them back into a game.
 
They have trouble scoring over 20 points which is a problem in the playoffs. Just ask the 2001 Bears who went 13-3 and lost their first playoff game. But then again, the Raven's won a title with no Passing game.
 
Contenders, I think they could somehow get a first round bye (over the Giants), they will at home in Chicago in January and make it to the NFC Championship.
 
Pretenders. I think a good Offence like INDI's or CINCI's could pick them appart. Seattle may do that late in the playoffs.

Considering that you are matching them up against indy and cinci, that means they are in the super bowl. How is a team playing in the super bowl a pretender?
Doesnt make much sense to me.
 
Contenders. They have shown that their defense can win games, period. They don't make the offense matter, but with Jones and Grossman back and Benson coming back and Muhammed, they do have some weapons + a solid O. Line.

They've squashed Carolina, Tampa Bay, Atlanta to name a few so I'm saying contenders.

That's a very likely scenario. Now that Rex is manning the offense, things are looking up for Chicago.

Well said cos. I thnk with Grossman back you'll see the offense play better, and Mushin Muhammad have some good games.
 
I don't think you can call the Bears either contenders or pretenders until we see how Rex performs in the next two games. Before Rex came in they were definitely pretenders.
 
jesus that is one hard-hitting defense. if grossman provides even an OUNCE more offense they'll be hard to stop
 
They are contenders, that defense is wow, good. They need some help on Offense but besides that, they will have a good run in the play offs
 
Rex really could put them over the top, and into final 4 status... they didn't look strong at Pittsburgh, but a lot of that could have been attributed to Orton's limitations as a rookie... Thomas Jones has become a MAN at RB, and Muhsin is a solid WR...

but, wow, are they 3 layers deep on defense or what? Tank!
