If Miami decides to make an offer in the supplemental draft (or some other deal) are they restricted from using both their 4th and 5th 2008 picks to cover the TG conditional pick deal?

no i dont think so i think they would have to give up a draft pick in the ragulary draft but i guess they could try and make an offer to them

No, they are not obligated to keep those picks. The rule is that if Miami say drafts a player in the 4th round of the supplemental draft and Green plays 70% of his snaps(making the pick a 4th rounder), the Chiefs would then receive the Dolphins 4th round pick in the 2009 draft. They would just push the pick to the next year.

But I believe they can't use their 5th round pick right? I mean we already have Green, so they technically already have our 5th? Or is with a conditional both are still with us?

If we use the 5th and Green doesn't take meet the incentives to make it a 4th, then I'd assume Kansas City would then get our 2009 5th.

so that settles it... we should try and use our 4th rounder on Paul Oliver..the 2009 fourth rounder with be defintely well worth it once hes developed for two years...he is atleast worth that

Hmmm this is a very interesting question. I have no idea to the answer, but other ppl in here seem to know about the situation

That sounds like a very good deal then to use the pick in the supplemental.

What if for example we draft a player in the supplemental using our 4th and do the same in Y2009.

How long could we just keep doing this and not give up the agreed pick?

Miami has every right to use their picks

in the supplemental draft...the Trent Green compensation would be pushed back since it is conditional.

And as such...

I would be inclined to use a pick in round 4 or 5 of the supplemental draft (if a player is worthwhile) just to stick it to Peterson.

I would assume yes they are becuase in essense the picks are "pending" and you can't move/change something that is pending

Well there goes my answer :)
