Are we getting or are in talks with Baalke yet

Be careful what you wish for, Baalke took AJ Jenkins in the 1st round last year. A lot of studs on that team were brought in before Baalke became GM.

The problem is there really not any elite coaches out there. A new GM would most likely bring in another coordinator who is unproven. I say give Philbin one more year. If we make it to the playoffs he will have us moving forward. That's what we want even with such an up and down season such as this one.

Not according to some on here.

One that is already more accomplish, better technically, is Rex Ryan, he would improve the team over Philbin. There maybe more. Coughlin maybe on the outs, or could be had for upward move into front office. Look Joe's resume and look at those 2.

It's one article with an unnamed source... nothing else for them to talk about, so they bring up that crap. When someone puts their name behind those rumors, then we can listen.

good point, I live i the Bay Area and while I don't doubt Harbaugh's abilities, Singletary really must have sucked

Is this a serious post?

This is exactly why some teams STAY in the world of mediocrity. Give the guy some time to see how it all turns out. Guy is just completing his second year as coach and the team is on a upswing. Jeesh. We have a shot to make it into the playoffs, a place we have not been in YEARS and people want to can the guy? Give him a chance to work his team a philosophy. We have no idea what this team can look like. All I see on here is a bunch of moaners and crybabies. WE NEED THIS GUY WE NEED THAT GUY WE NEED A PLAY MAKER HERE WE NEED A PLAYMAKER THERE!!!! Relax!!!
Every team in the NFL has a problem someplace on the roster.

Yes it is easy to sit back and play armchair GM. We should have did this or should have did that but every GM makes their share of mistakes. I’m not a supporter of Jeff nor do I think he’s doing a some sort of excellent work but to be fair to the guy, he is not that far off. Look at our starting 22. How many guys are players that we drafted? 8 on offense including our slot WR and 6 on defense. THAT IS NOT BAD!!!!! For a playoff team…… Gentleman that is pretty damn good. 14 of your 22 starts are drafted players.

People want to bash Jeff for not addressing the O-line – I wanted the o-line addressed as well but I can understand the thought process on why we only signed Clabo. You see Clabo NOW!!!!! That’s the Clabo Jeff thought he had on day 1. Cog was a probowler and not that bad of a player. Martin was the question mark. If you really look at him before BULLYGATE I can see what the thought was. Coming out of Stanford he was considered one of the top 2 tackles. He was known as a dancing bear with real good feet that lacked size and strength. Cool coach him up on tech and get him in the weight room and you have a pretty decent left tackle. At the beginning of the year, martin was not that bad on run blocking at the point of attach. He was slacking in his pass pro which was SUPPOSE to have been his strong point. One that had faith in him would believe that would get better right. I mean the hard part was shaping up his run blocking. Just a little time for him to get the pass pro down. Well as we all know that didn’t’ happen. But don’t knock Jeff for that. Yes he made the pick but how many Martins (excluding BULLYGATE) are out there? TONS!!! We are not the 1st team to miss on a o0line man. Me personally, I don’t believe is taking o-line man high! I would not select one before the bottom of the 3rd. That’s just me playing armchair GM. To me o-lineman are like RB to many of them to have in later rounds that you can hit on to take one early that you could miss on. I mean play the odds. There are 5 starting oline man on every team. Just means there are a lot more to pick from, why take them early.

Sorry for the rant but the bottom line is lets watch this team grow. Continuity is a HUGE thing. Look at Drew Brees and Payton. 1 year Payton is gone and Drew does not look the same. He comes back and they are clicking again. Turn over is not good for ANY team. Sometimes it is needed. But this is one time that I think it is not.

If you do that means you would have to fire Philbin. Are you ready to do that? Baalke is not going to want to inherit his coach...not a GM of his ilk.

If it gets rid of Ireland, absolutely. You see what bruce Arians is doing in his first year in a loaded division? Why can't something like that ever happen to us? I see the kcs, the San frans, zona, Seattle and other teams turn it around in a year or two but for some reason people wanna stick with what's been shown to fail and scream "we must have continuity".

I want to like Joe Philbin. I really do.

But he ain't giving me any reasons to do so.

The difference between Miami and the teams youe mentioned is, those teams were already built when the new HC came in. All had probowlers and solid defenses. All just needed a QB in place.

Miami has overhauled so much that that is not the case here. So continuity is the call here.
