I, and many others believe that WR is one of our deepest positions, but after reading this quote from the Sun-sentinel (it's also on the FH front page), I'm not sure the coaching staff agrees.

"Wide receiver Peerless Price will visit today with the Dolphins. Price, who was released by Atlanta earlier this week, met Wednesday with New England and will travel Friday to Dallas.

The Dolphins also had interest in Peter Warrick, but the ex-Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver signed Wednesday with Seattle."

These aren't minimum salary WRs. They will demand quite a bit of salary cap space. Do they see these guys as potentially special? Are they looking to trade one of the guys on the roster? Or do they just think that our guys aren't that good?

It doesn't make to much sense to me, unless they are worried about Boston's knees holding up!

well basically think of it like you can have 5 wide with gilmore as your 5th, or instead peerless price... maybe even as your 4th, maybe atl just wasn't the right situation for him and it cant hurt to see, if he'd be a better number 5 than gilmore and we can bring him in cheap, why not?

  • Why not take a look at every player the staff thinks may help the team. I mean they may find the guy is a better player or they may find that the player on our roster is better.
  • Saban is always looking to improve... he will not stay static... it's the process and it keeps all players on their toes.
  • It's a business.

What do you mean by cheap? It's not like either of these guys will be cheaper than Gilmore.

cant see him asking or getting to much money he was demoted early in the preseason then released dont know if he has alot of leverage when it comes to asking for big money

The point is need vs cost. Do we need a WR? not necessarily. Will it make us better? Probably.

However those who think Peerless is going to come here for a minimum salary are on crack. Not every FA in the NFL wants to come to Miami to play for a min salary.

We are pretty deep here at WR and although Peerless would be an upgrade to our WR corps, the price he would cost would be must better spent in a position of greater need.

I don't think we are in the "market" but when a Price or Warrick come available, Saban owes it to the organization to "look" at these guys...While I think our WR situation is adequate, it's not great...it just happens to be better then most other areas of the team. To add a Price or Warrick would improve the team...If you could get one of those guys at the price we pay Thompson, why not ?? However, this is all moot as they are both off the market now...

Until every player is replaced minus a few, we are in the market for everything. Saban is building his team so no one is really safe over the next few years save for who Saban brought in or likes.

it was an if statement... if we could bring him in cheap, haha...

i dont know what hed be asking for, but a guy who just got cut from a team with not a lot of WRs isnt in a good bargaining position, i know he wont get league minimum, but id think he might go for a 1 year contract for cheap to prove his worth again... i dont know, i dont see him signing a long term expensive deal with anyone

I think Linehan like the 4 wide set and we really only have 3 good WR i say cut Thompson and see if we could get P.Price for what he would have been making.........

I think either A: They are worried about Boston or B: Booker could be on his way out

No i think your wrong... i would say more like Thompson is on his way out. Booker has shown more than Thompson has and Boston has been great...
