we will probably pick up another FA OL but history shows that spending $ in FA doesn't always pay off. As far as our OL... give Dallas Thomas a chance. Also, it doesn't matter if all holes aren't completely filled as long as we can have strength in other areas. .....I.e. if our CBs are weak or lack depth it won't be as big of a deal if we have a consistent pass rush.
With all due respect, we practiced a similar, yet not intentional, philosophy last year. We built a strength in our WRs that should have slowed down the pass rush. 58 sacks later, neglecting the OLine with a 1st round luxury pick and value shopping for OLine after the draft seemed like an obvious mistake.
Two years in a row of getting cute with addressing the OLine is not how you extend Tannehill's NFL life.
The QB is the Franchise. Protecting him is Job #1.
With the flexibility we possess in Pouncey, it would be unwise for us to not consider making an offer for Mack. The sheer versatility we would have with Mack, Pouncey and Brenner could allow us to cover many bases in one move. Not to mention the overall talent of the line would jump leaps and bounds and give us time to draft a couple of OLine and develop them for the future.
Bolster the starters with experience, draft and develop talent behind them and make the OLine problems a distant memory. It's time to put this problem to rest. We've done a great job with hiring coaches. But we need an immediate infusion of starting talent to protect the development of draft picks.
And I believe a FA C is about the cheapest position on the OLine. Signing an All Pro C and kicking another potential All Pro to G is how we practice addition by addition.
I understand your philosophy, but NOT correctly applying this philosophy last year puts us in a situation where an unconventional approach is warranted. Replacing 4 starters in any single unit is a task NO Coach plans. When it happens, it's all hands on deck.
