Are we playing the opposite of Wannyball? I fear we may be. What is even more unsettling is that we are doing it with Frerotte. At least when we played Wannyball, we had one of the best RBs in the game. Now we're playing the opposite style with a medicore at best QB. There is no way that Frerotte should have had 47 attempts. I know that the Patsies were really banged up in the secondary but 47 is way too high. What we are stilll lacking in the offense is balance. Now we seem to be throwing too often, before it was running too often, we lack balance. I also believe Linehan screwed the playcalling up on that last series in the redzone. How about some playaction passes to a TE or some crossing patterns? It should have gone more like this: -1st down, play action pass looking for the TE who faked the block and released into a pattern
-2nd down(if 1st doesnt work) RUN THE BALL, see what happens, maybe u get in, maybe it goes down to the 1
-3rd, if the run brouhgt it to the 1, pound the ball in or playaction to the FB in the flat
-4th get alot of traffic in the endzone, someone has to come free on a pattern OR if it is close to the goaline see #3
I dont agree with the 2 fades, I think they were absolutely AWFUL. That last series was all Linehans fault. I think in order for us to win, regardless of opponent, we need to be a 60% run/ 40% pass team. I hope the coaches start to implement some balance in the offense and play to our strenghts.
