I"ve been on vacation for the last week so I apologize if this has been brought up in a different thread. I tivoed the Jax game and just finished watching the re-broadcast of last night's game.
As I watched these 2 games, I'm starting to think that Frerotte isn't much of an upgrade over Feeley if at all. I will also state that I'm hoping Feeley wins simply because if this is to be a rebuilding season, then let's give Feeley a chance to either prove he should be part of this organization's future plans or if we should cut our losses. What does it matter if instead of 6 games, we win 7 because Frerotte knows the system and gives us the best chance of winning now ( I don't agree with this by the way)?
Here's the tale of the tape for me, a fan, and an armchair scout:
Frerotte: Knows the system yet he isn't lighting the world on fire. He's had receivers drop some balls on him but he's also made some ugly throws. I feel he shortarms some of his throws but at the same time, tends to get the ball downfield very well. Isn't the most accurate passer.
Feeley: Doesn't know the system and also isn't lighting the world on fire. He's had quite a few ugly throws only to follow them with some nicer ones. Hasn't had many drops (except for Thompson's in game 1) but seems to lock onto his target. He's a bit more accurate than Frerotte and throws the deep ball quite well. Has rapport with many of the WR's.
Now by my account, I would say both QB's are pretty even. If they are, Feeley should start. We have more invested in him and we need to see what we have or don't have. I'd like to see Rosenfels get a shot because I think he throws the nicest ball on the team but I don't think that's going to happen. I also know that his stats are misleading since he's done his work vs. 3rd and 4th stringers.
Moral of the story: Feeley should start if Frerotte doesnt prove he's head and shoulders better than Feeley (which he hasn't done).
