It's a nice argument to say that a guy stepped in for a top flight QB and the team didn't miss a beat, but unfortunately there have been dozens of times in NFL history when backups step in and do well over a short stretch in a good offense, only to fizzle out when given a chance to lead a team.

I'm sure there has been. Just like there's been QBs who's shown promise over a stretch of games when they take over as a starter, to fizzle out just the same. I'm not one to look at past scenarios and try to draw comparisons as if those situations have any bearing on upcoming situations. But Philbin understands the gravity of who's going to QB his team. He knows his career will be tied to whoever he's going to pick as his guy. If Philbin chooses Flynn, then that should say plenty enough. If he doesn't I'm good with that too. I'd still want more legit options like a healthy Manning or a early round QB to give Moore some competition and the franchise options down the road.

I'm sold on Flynn, of his only real weakess is that he doesn't have a huge arm I'll take that all day.

The best qb we had since Marino didn't have an arm either. We need to get over this idea that then perfect qb is going to fall into our lap.

NFL coaches are fallable and will often bring in players they are familiar with who aren't necessarily that talented. Or were the Tony Sparano years too far in the past for you to remember?

Sure I remember Sparano. But Philbin is supposed to be a guy that's better than Sparano. And like I said, Philbin has more riding on bringing Flynn in or not, than anyone, so I'm going with his judgment.

Really, I'm arguing more for people to chill out and see how the decision plays out once the season starts before trying to find flaws and throw hissy fits in the options we have out there.

Flynn scares me and many other DOLFANS. He has played 2 games. Only 2 fricken games. I can see someone throwing a Brinks Truck full of money at him and then watch him be nothing but an average talent.

And Flynn having a rag arm like Jay Fiedler isn't exactly comforting either. I'm not saying he needs a Howitzer for an arm but the guy can't throw the deep ball. Flynn's deep passes float just like Fiedler's did.

Bad example as I was a Fielder guy. Hah.

But not saying there's no risks. I'm not saying bring him in at all cost. I don't think he's going to get as much money as people think he will because one, I don't think teams are going to offer as much as people think, and two, the guy's trying to establish his career. I can see him taking less money to go to a situation he's more likely to succeed in than chase money and go to a horrible situation, and with his OC and offensive weapons in place, if there is such a discount, it could very well come our way. Whoever we bring in, Flynn or Peyton, I'd still want the Dolphins to use an early pick on a QB. We gotta get our QB that the franchise is going to get behind once and for all in the next two years. Or we'll be here again, hunting for a new coach, and by that point, and new GM, with who knows what kind of VP of Football Operations we'd be speculating on.

Go after Peyton if healthy. If that doesn't work, go after Flynn if Philbin thinks we should, if he doesn't then argument settled. Either way, draft a QB. What we can't do is go into camp without bringing in players to give Moore legit competition to be starter.

If Philbin is sold on him, so am I. No one will know better than Philbin.

I'm not saying Chad is the solution, but Philbin should give him a try before leaving Chad to become a free agent.
I agree with you on this, we can resign him for cheap and have a real coach try and develop his skills. Henne is actually IMO the best fit for a spread offense on the current roster.

Supposed to be better than Sparano. But there is no proof of that whatsoever right now. If only Sparano had subscribed to that trend, it wouldn't be an issue, but even Gruden in Tampa had a horrible problem with that.

No he didn't.......

All he does is short little passes. Whenever he goes deep, his ball is slow and vulnerable to INT's.

That 6 TD game was fluky and a big statement to how good the Packer offensive system is, and the talented players they have.

what the hell are you talkin about??? his deep ball is slow and vulnerable to ints...thats probably the worst analysis i've seen in a while...if you are gonna talk a big game try bringing one...

To me, being sold on a QB is saying you believe they can lead you to the Super Bowl.

A 7th round draft pick who has played in 2 games for an outstanding team...how can people be sold on him as a Super Bowl QB already?

I feel he's our best option this year. I don't trust Manning staying healthy all year. I just feel Flynn has a lot of up side and knows the offensive system.

Bottom line, if Philbin says he's for real, he should know. And I trust that.

I feel like the body of work is too small to be sold on him from our standpoint, however, Coach Philbin certainly knows him as a pro as well as anybody I would assume.

I am comfortable with leaving a decision on Flynn to him this time, and I will support it. I feel the same way about possibly drafting Ryan Tannehill, our new OC Mike Sherman should know Tannehill about as well as anybody...we do have a leg up on most teams looking at these two guys this year anyway.
