Arenas out 2-3 Months

All-Star guard to miss 2-3 months after knee surgery

Gilbert Arenas averaged 28.4 points and six assists in 74 games this season.

Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas was to have surgery Thursday on his left knee and is essentially done for the season.

Arenas was diagnosed with a lateral meniscus tear and was to have arthroscopic surgery later in the day at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington. The Wizards said the recovery time will be two to three months, meaning he might play again this season only if Washington manages to make the NBA finals without him.

Arenas was injured in the first quarter of Wednesday night's 108-100 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Wizards have lost both of their All-Stars to injuries in less than a week. Caron Butler broke a bone in his hand in Sunday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks and is out for six weeks.

Without their two best players, the Wizards are stumbling to the finish of what was a promising season only two months ago. They lost back-to-back games Tuesday and Wednesday to the lottery-bound Bobcats and have fallen behind the Miami Heat in the race for the Southeast Division title.

Yeah but now they will complain that they lost the division because of injury when we only had our starting 5 together for about 5 games.

Wow. With him and Butler out. They are completely done. Like totally done. Like yeah

They have no beef with injuries. They've been relatively healthy all year while you guys haven't. Trust me, this town knows nothing about championships or even winning divisions anyway. Screw the Wizards

Butler and Jamison have both missed a good amount of time this year. They havent been that healthy.

hate to see it happen but LETS GO HEAT!!! we worked the wizards anyways

The 3rd seed will be a fight now.

Miami is chasing the Raps, only a game and a half back, but they hold the tiebreaker.

Raps need to take care of business. After Fridays game the Raps have 6 games left, the good news is 4 of those are at home but they do play Detroit twice still.

It doesn't compare with the Heat though.

We lost what could be the best player int he league and we have gone 15-7 in his absence.

yes..that is not a typo.

15-7 since he got hurt.

The Division was ours anyway..they were caught...this injury just hurts them in theor seeding...but they lost the division when the heat pulled within a game after the 9 game win streak.

Well the Heat own us in the playoffs and beyond so unless they were beat by someone else it was probaly going to be a short playoff run anyways. Im a wiz fan and Im proud of the team this year. We have some really good pieces to the puzzle, I think we are one player away from being a serious contender for the title. Sucks that the injuries to butler and Arenas hit so late but hey this will give some other guys some time to show if they can play or not.

As far as I know, Jamison only missed 12 games. Butler's been hurt a few times but hasn't missed significant time until now. And even with these guys healthy, the Wizards were never 10 games over .500 for the much of the season anyway. Put them in the West and they're 6th or 7th.

Even with everyone healthy they aren't a championship team
