Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas and forward Awvee Storey have been arrested on charges of disobeying police.

Storey was blocking traffic in the middle of a busy street when an officer told him to get back to the sidewalk Saturday night, according to police reports. Storey didn't get out of the street, and the officer arrested him and charged him with failure to obey a command.

While police were arresting Storey, Arenas got out of a vehicle and walked toward the arresting officers. According to reports, an officer told Arenas to get back in his vehicle, but he refused, saying he wanted to stand next to his teammate. The officer took Arenas into custody and charged him with resisting without violence.

As Arenas was being arrested, according to reports, he said, "You can't arrest me. I'm a basketball player. I play for the Washington Wizards, and I'm not going to leave my teammate."
Both players were then taken to jail for processing.

why does that sound more like 2 ploicemen trying to make names for themselves more then it sounds like arenas seriously did anything wrong?

not me, it sounds like these guys think they are above the law...what part of the "you can't arrest me" did you miss? why should they be any different than you or me? Cop tells you to get back in the car and you don't...guess what, you go to jail, every time. They aren't going to screw around in a crowd, they were maintaining control and were interferred with.

Arenas has been a comedian his entire NBA career, and that's what you have to take out've this - pure comedy. He was probably laughing as he said that, and I can see him doing so now, having met the guy a couple times at South Beach during the past offseason. Didn't you guys see how much he joked around in the press during the Wiz/Cavs series?

He was asked about how Washington forced LeBron to tough spots forcing him to 7-25 from the field, and then he commented on LeBron's 10 turnovers:

"Well, I guess we were all witnesses tonight"
:roflmao:

In essence, Arenas is a good guy. He doesn't think he's above the law or anything, he was merely being sarcastic knowing that all he'd get out of this is probably a $10,000 fine anyways - that's chump change for him. He doesn't care.

another banner moment for the NBA!

LOL @ Gilbert, did he say "you can't arrest me" before or after the cuffs were on.
