"We knew as soon as Rodriguez was hired it was obvious there would be a problem," Jim Mallett told Schad. "He would not fit into the coaches' spread offense. Now, is this something Ryan had control over? No. Now for him to sit out 18 months because of it would be tough. So we're asking the NCAA to examine the particulars of this case."

Yeah, good luck with that.

8:55am EST: An interesting bit of news that surfaced this morning is Arkansas Razorback Ryan Mallett has petitioned the NCAA for immediate eligibility in the fall of 2008. While it is unknown at this time what the circumstances are behind the plea, it is pretty certain that 2008 quarterback commitments Tyler Wilson and Jim Youngblood have to be rooting that he is successful as it will create a possible extra year for them to hit the field.

I doubt this goes thru. if it does than everytike there is a coaching change and a kid does not fit into the system he will leave and want this

Its Petrino trying to circumvent the system. He knows his QBs are going to be young/suck this year so he's not going to be able to "win" like his ego demands.

Good luck with it though...:sidelol:

It was worth a shot. But if it had gone through the rule itself would be in trouble cause every school would try to do it as well.
