Kings forward booked on suspicion of domestic violence

Kings star Ron Artest was arrested Monday morning when a woman called 911 from his home.

Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest was arrested Monday after a woman called 911 from his home saying she had been assaulted.

Placer County sheriff’s deputies responded about 9:30 a.m. to Artest’s five-acre estate in the Sacramento suburb of Loomis, where they found a woman who had suffered injuries, officials said. She declined medical attention.

Deputies arrested Artest on suspicion of domestic violence and using force or violence to prevent the woman from reporting a crime, sheriff’s spokeswoman Dena Erwin said.

“He and the female were in the house and separated,†Erwin said. “The deputies interviewed them and took Mr. Artest into custody.â€Â

Artest was booked into the Placer County Jail and released later on $50,000 bail.

Erwin said she could not disclose the woman’s injuries or characterize her relationship with the player. She said Artest was cooperative when deputies arrived at his home.

Well it wasen't in the stands this time I guess.... What a dumbarse

Another banner moment for the NBA!!

Way to go David Stern. Should have banned this bum for life for the stands incident.

Artest has so many chances why can't the players just be happy and try not to cause anything they are getting payed big bucks.

no way he would ever do anything like that :rolleyes2

I am by no ways a Ron Artest sympathizer but let me just say this. It's funny how when Ron Artest gets in trouble he basically gets kicked off the team but when Tank Johnson gets caught with guns, the Kings coach gets caught for DWI, Stephen Jackson pulls a gun, and every other case involving an athlete occurs, their all still allowed to play until the issue is resolved. I guess your innocent until proven guilty.......unless your name is Ron Artest. And I understand his track record, but still, whatever happened to the law of the land?

I live here in Artest country and I just don't care for the guy. The Kings never should have acquired him.

Kings to allow Artest back on team

Five days after his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, Ron Artest said he'd stumbled as a father and husband  and the Sacramento Kings announced they would let the volatile player return to the team.

"First, I want to apologize to my wife, to my family," Artest said Saturday.

He then lowered his head and fought back tears for nearly a minute before continuing. "I want to apologize to the Kings, to my teammates, to the NBA, everybody."

The Kings had excused Artest indefinitely Tuesday from all team activities, one day after he was arrested at his home in a Sacramento suburb. A woman called 911 and said she had been assaulted, and a police report said Artest had slapped the woman's face and grabbed her repeatedly, causing visible injuries on her hand and leg.

At the hastily called news conference to announce Artest would play Sunday against the Denver Nuggets, Artest promised to begin volunteering with domestic violence groups in Sacramento and said he would work to repair his personal life.

"I definitely stumbled by what happened with my family, and I took a step back as being a father and a husband, and I'm looking forward to the day when I can make that right," he said.
Professionally, Artest also said he was sorry for once again giving the NBA a black eye.

"I definitely want to apologize for my behavior even to the ... whole NBA, all the players, because the league is doing so well right now ... and Ron Artest once again is in the media for something other than basketball and I apologize."

Artest is best known as the central figure in the 2004 brawl between Indiana Pacers players and Detroit Pistons fans. He received a 73-game suspension and lost almost $5 million in salary for jumping into the stands and slugging it out with the public.

Artest and teammate Stephen Jackson were sentenced to one year of probation and 60 hours of community service after pleading no contest to misdemeanor assault charges stemming from the 2004 brawl.
In January, Artest was released from that probation.

I think track record and your history has a lot to do with things. If this was Ron's first offense he would have had less issues. But.......it isn't!! So,!
