I don't know if it's been posted and if so sorry but anyway here it is........ http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3403626

Note that Miami's right tackles gave up 5.5 sacks, its guards 8.5 and its tight ends/running backs 12. Also note that 13 of the team's sacks were coverage sacks, a result of its young QBs—John Beck and Cleo Lemon—holding the ball too long.
This doesn't make much sense to me. In the article they basically say that the Interior OL sucks but then while displaying the stat breakdown it shows the interior gave up less sacks than the OT's. The article also doesn't hold much water because Miami's Interior OL will be differen't than it was last year.
Anyway what are your thoughts.........

Yea this seems like a pointless article because we have added some nice pieces at Guard and we have a young potential stud center in Satele . . . our Tackle position looks fantastic . . . I mean how can you say the interior is spotty as ever when we signed 2 FA's in McKinney and Smiley and added 2 more guards via the draft in Murphy and Thomas . . . plus like I said the crown jewel in Satele.

Interesting read and thanks for posting. He's basically saying that Jake Long solidifying the LT doesn't mean much since opposing teams DC's will target our weakest spot.

However, the LT spot is obviously the best spot to protect. IF beck is our QB, he seems to have decent pocket presence, and with a strong protection from the back side, he would be able to see the rush and scramble out better.

not a very good article IMO. sure, teams are going to come after the weakest link. that's quite logical. but the LT is still going to be lining up against the best pass-rusher on most downs. so, basically, the writer is saying shoring up the Left Tackle position is no use. with that logic you're going to need five Pro Bowlers along the OL to have a solid unit, which is simply not true.

it's also strechted to say that our interior line is as spotty as ever. Satele is only going to get better. i'm expecting him to struggle a bit with the line calls early on, but he looks like a franchise-caliber center to me. Smiley when healthy is no slouch either. whether he plays at LG or RG remains to be seen, but either we have an adequate replacement for Hadnot or we got ourselves a big upgrade over Liwienski. the other OG spot is up for grabs, but competition is a nice thing to have.

for everyone who was too lazy to read the two paragraphs
barring injury 4 out of 5 spots are taken. there are quite a few teams in the league who would love to be able to claim that IMO

That article is just one man opinion it means nothing.

it will be kind of diffrent rember that L.J Shelton and Rex Handot:d-day: are out of the question we know have in our O-line

Justin Smiley
Jake Long
Steve Mckinney

Miami Oline was better last year but not great..

I do not agree with this article at all. Period. It might be true that Carey only gave up 3 sacks at left tackle, the addition of Long was to specifically address the consistence of line play across the board. If you move Carey to right tackle maybe he gives up 2 or less sacks last season. We will see this season if the choice was correct. Also the statement about the interior line being spotty, complete BS! A one Mr. Satele would be the first to point out he allowed no sacks registered against him as a rookie center. Pretty impressive if you ask this Phin fan………….. good building block, good building blocks. The sacks will happens no matter what but give this line this year to jell and watch out. IMO.

Couldnt have said it better myself. This is the time of year where we will start seeing all types of "Opinion"articles and 99% of the time they are biased and skewed in 1 direction. Our Oline will struggle initally but will be a formidable line by years end......injuries aside.

Wow that guys in an IDIOT, He didn't even considered the QB hurries from the right side, which teams were consistently attacking. Oh well, all I know or hoping that the interior lineman, such as Smiley and Murphy step to the plate.

Last year is over. THANK GOD! Satele was a rookie manning the hardest o-line position to learn and progressed very well and Carey was great IMO. With Smiley and Long added to them we shoulod have a great o-line for years to come. BTW Fasano is also a hell of alot better blocker than any of the TE's we had last year.

Plus 12 sacks giving up by RB's. Ronnie is a very good blocker, that hurt just as much as his running being gone last year. I know if QB I feel better with Ronnie back there instead of Samkon Gado. Ronnie and Ricky's blocking will be greatly increased from next year to.

there is always going to be critics out there and peoples opinions and that is ok if this line stays healthy and our rb's are ricky and ronnie this year is going to be fun to watch.we are going to run at teams right down there throats bp is licking his chops right now with the two headed monsters we have in ricky and ronnie and this new o-line anything can happen keep our defence fresh and watch out we could be come back team of the year!!!!!

? marks on the ol, rb coming off major injury, another 1 old and broken down, terrible qb's, terrible wr's
yea it's gonna be a long year..
