It's January, so you know what that means, Miami Dolphins fans: Introductory press conferences! Ah, yes, a tradition like none other. Backdrops and promises. It's like our own little holiday.
If you've been a Dolphins fan for long enough, you're starting to look at press conferences in a different way. Normally, press conferences like the one the Dolphins held Saturday to introduce new head coach Adam Gase are an oddity. Fans gobble them up, hang on every word, and believe them to be the beginning of a new era. They pump their fist in anticipation of great things to come. They know this day is a day of change. Out with the old, in with the new.

*long sigh*yeeaahhh.....

"Gase comes highly regarded by just about everyone that has ever come in contact with him. Everyone from Peyton Manning to Nick Saban glow when talking about the kind of work he's done in the past as an assistant coach. All signs point to the Dolphins having scored a hard-working young mind who will instantly bring — at the very least — some much-needed energy and direction to an offense that has had zero swagger or innovation in what feels like forever."

Yes, so many reasons to be depressed just because meatball failed

What is the "Miami New Times"

What is the "Miami New Times"

When New Times purchased a small fortnightly newspaper in late 1987, the Miami metropolitan area was served by two dailies, populated with aging retirees, begging for tourists, and struggling to invent a place called South Beach. And of course it moved to a Latin beat.

Today the Latin beat remains, but a couple of other things have changed. There is only one daily paper. The median age has dropped dramatically. Tourists come to play all year round. South Beach's nightlife scene is world famous. And Miami New Times, now with a circulation of more than 70,000, has become the region's essential compendium of news and information for residents and visitors alike.

Drawing on the talents of an accomplished editorial staff recruited from all across the country, New Times has established a reputation for compelling stories ignored or overlooked by major media, for insightful coverage of local arts and entertainment, and for unflinching exposure of Miami's steamy political life. That reputation for high-caliber journalism has spread beyond South Florida. The paper has won more than seventy first-place awards for editorial excellence, statewide and nationally.

Miami New Times is still young and dynamic. And of course, like the city it serves, it moves to a Latin beat.

after the optimism this summer, I think all fans will be reserved

anybody know the financial terms of this new 5 year agreement with gase? that might speak volumes of what kind of leash he has the annual salary

There is so much more to Adam Gase than Joe Philbin and it all starts with Xs and Os
In a nutshell: it's like comparing Meryl Streep to Lindsay Lohan.

Oh and FWIW, before the state clamped down on oxy distribution abuses, the first thing an addict I know from out of town would do would be to check out at all the back 2 pages of "pain relief" (wink wink) clinics advertised in the New Times to plan his first stops while down here.

I believe that if you polled most Dolphin fans, most would be unimpressed with this hiring. I am. I hope I am wrong, but passed failures by Ross has not left me optimistic. I will gladly eat crow if the team makes the playoffs next year, but I think its more of the same. :(
