SABAN PUSHING FOR SAME-DAY TRIP

We're hearing that, although the Miami Dolphins have managed to cobble together hotel rooms at two separate facilities in Louisiana for the team's Sunday game against the Saints at Baton Rouge, head coach Nick Saban still wants to fly from Florida on the day of the game and fly back thereafter.

And we're told that Saban is expected to "snap" if the league ultimately sticks to its position that visiting teams are required to arrive the day before a game, given that the Chiefs flew from Missouri to Miami on Friday, hours before their game against the Fins.

We assume that the NFL's rule is intended to ensure that any unexpected travel delays won't cause a team to show up late for kickoff. But the league has a habit of making exceptions to rules when the terms of the rules don't mesh with what the league wants to do in a given situation, and the inability of the Fins to keep the entire team together and under one roof on the night before the game should be enough to prompt the league to make another exception.

The league, after all, is waiving its blackout rule so that the Saints' four games in Baton Rouge will be televised locally even if (as expected) none of them are sold out. If that rule can be softened given the unique circumstances that the league faces, so can the travel rule.

Saban needs to spent more of his time and energy on preparing Gus for the game. He needs to get Gus focused. The Dolphins need to win this week.
Go Dolphins !

that makes no sence. it must be a joke.

no team in NFL history, before last week, played a game on the day they traveled. it puts that team at a huge disadvantage. for saban to "want" to do it makes no sence.

it has to be a joke.

I happen to agree with you, why would Saban want to do this? Give the team at least a day to relax and sleep after their flight.

Well, in the press conference I thought I heard him say that one part team is staying in/around New Orleans, and the other is somewhere in Mississippi. Now that has got to be about as big a disadvantage as flying the same day.

After what K C did in Miami last Friday, guess Saban what's to try it and hope the team can play better and come back with a win.

who decided that the team would stay in 2 diffrent places? he should be mad about that.

can you immagin flying on an airplane ~2 hours, then checking in to a hotel, only to leave 20 min. later to go play a football game. flying always takes the energy out of me for the rest of the day. i still find it hard to believe the chiefs did it.

It makes no sence that you cant spell sense, oh yea your a buffalo fan. that explains it.

badfoot we don't need a spelling geek in the room.

 you can spell check my posts all you want.

or you could just realize that this is a message board. who cares about spelling?

o, and i dont capitalize either...

If I were a coach I would prefer to have my team in one location and fly the same day. The flight from miami to la. is fairly short so I don't see much of an affect from the flight.

yeah i wouldn't want my guys in seperate hotels... id take the 2 hour flight that morning, go straight to the stadium and do it like that...

and ch the reason they'll be in 2 seperate hotels is because of hurricane katrina most of the hotels are filled up and the dolphins cant get a spot where they can all fit... saban had to pull some strings to even get 2 to fit the guys...

The flight shouldn't even be two hours....especially with a private airplane, that they get on and take off.

It was in the paper this morning. It's because Saban doesn't want anyone not being able to get a room and be displaced. By arriving the day of the game, the odds of someone being left without a room in separate hotels decreases.

I like the move, shows concern about the team and organization as an entire entity.

Saban wants to keep the whole team together. We don't want Ricky wondering off to the Ghetto areas of New Orleans And finding some smoke.
Just a Joke
