Anyone wearing a sombrero stands out in a crowd.

That's the image defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni uses to illustrate the intricacies of the Dolphins' 3-4 defense to his players.

On every call, Pasqualoni stresses that one player is wearing a proverbial sombrero and stands out to the quarterback during his presnap reads. It's the defender's job to not get exposed.

Interesting read.

I think the coaching staff should use the sombrero on the sideline for guys that screw up during the game. They can't take it off until the next guy screws up or they make a freakishly good play to balance out the stupid one. Think of it as the Dolphins version of the dunce cap.

Just so long as there's no mid-afternoon siestas accompanying those sombreros, si?

I was thinking they should hand sombreros out to Dolfans as a reminder to the team.
