Artificial Turf or an infield?

I figured I would throw out a topic I was thinking about during my 17 hour drive listening to the NFL Radio Network on Sirius.

With the improvements of turfs now a days, I was contemplating the thought of using an artificial turf. As well as the marlins using a turf as well. That way we wouldn't have to deal with an infield. I believe this was done in Minn at one point. Take out the baseball and install the turf.

This can be used during the baseball season. Once it is concluded, we can convert to a grass field. My preference is to have grass 100% of the time. But that infield bugs me for those first few home games.

I am sure this would never be done but I was just thinking about that today. What are your thoughts on this matter.

Hate to sound like an *** but I would really just assume the Marlins get their own house and leave. I understand the pro's of the artificial nexturf but it still bothers me when guys hit the ground and get up with no grass stains on their uni's...

No you don't. I agree with you 100%. Wish we never converted to a combo stadium. Though I know that financially it might be better for both for revenues. Though if we have to suffer with both, I would just welcome a solution that involves us not playing on an infield. Though that is just wishful thinking I know.

Feelin' ya bruh...but the Marlins say that 'turf' makes the bezballs 'jump/squirt/juke', so they vote NO! Funny thing though...the infield thing has caused several season/career ending Dolphins injuries...not to mention hundreds of major scrapes/bruises...but the REAL kicker is, that at the far corner of the endzone on the infield side...the surface there ain't grass, and it DANG SURE AIN'T TURF...it's more like, uh..what's that stuff...oh yeah...CONCRETE!!

I am sure they would say no. I say too bad. Once football season is here, they will play on a turf. Part of their season can be natural as part of ours will be also. But when both need use of the stadium, TURF!

I don't think this is really that big a deal, or at least it prob won't be for much longer. The way the Marlins are going they'll prob be outski either next year or the year after. We'll only have to see Mare struggle with that infield for a little while longer.

I hope you are right. I know it has been stated we won't out them though. So I hope they get a stadium. It won't be soon enough.

Nobody likes playing on turf. It burns, it hurts, it doesn't support the body as well, and it just isn't...natural. We can sit here all day and debate the negatives of the clay, but the fact is there are likely two more years of it and it's gone.

Aside from the "infield" issue, I hear that Miami has some of the best grass in the league. I wonder if that's why Ricky decided to play for Miami! No, j/k.

Seriously, I agree with the poster saying that it just isn't natural. I know there have been improvements, but football is football. It all started on grass. Unless there is a circumstance where grass cannot thrive through the duration of the season (in the northern states), turf should not be an alternative. I do remember last season where Miami was having some problems with the grass, but I think that was from re-sodding. I just think grass is better.

**** field turf or any ****.

football was meant to be played on NATURAL GRASS and OUTDOORS.

these two things should be in place when the marlins leave.

The Dolphins's turf at Dolphin's stadium has been horrendous. I think the Marlins are a big cause for this and the other things they do their. I would hope it stays natural grass just get the Marlins out of there.

They will be gone soon anyway...thus its not cost efficient...

Will someone please just gaff the damn Marlins already.
