As this will likely never happen because TB lucked out being the beneficiary of the jest' brainfart trading up for Sanchez instead of staying put for Josh Freeman.. and they know what they have,

so this is strictly posed as a hypothetical diversion from the usual Luck related stuff:

A Bird In The Hand Or 2-3 In The Bush?

Let's say we did end up with the first draft pick. At the same time, TB's owners, the Glaziers continue to be overextended and experience serious finanacial reversals, including ongoing Bucs blackouts. They desparately need a major buzz and are willing to sacrifice the present for the potential future. As a result they instruct the GM, Mark Dominik, to offer us Josh Freeman, their first round pick, a 3rd and a 2013 2nd in exchange for the ability to draft Andrew Luck.

Would you do it? And if not, what would it take if anything to relinquish rights to Luck?

Personally, I love everything about that kid Freeman, not the least of which is his hard-wired winner mentality. As great as Luck could be, it's still not assured while "come back Josh", with his quintessential size and mobility, will only get better. I'd be someone who'd jump on that deal.

I think I'd pull the trigger and build my franchise around Freeman.

freeman is a top 10 qb and improving
it would be tempting

I wouldn't accept that trade. Now if they offered Freeman, two firsts and two seconds, yeah I might consider it.

no i would not do it...i'm not trading the rights to andrew luck for anyone less than aaron rodgers...if its aaron rodgers i'm game...thats it

To get Aaron Rodgers, we'd have to give em rights to Luck and the following 3 years of our own first picks - and then hope Ted Thompson recently underwent a lobotomy. :idk:

We need a quarterback..This guy seems like the best in a long time, I dont think we are shopping this pick at all.

probably but i think so highly of luck as a pro that barring aaron rodgers coming back i would not trade the rights...not for matt ryan not for sam bradford both franchise guys not for freeman not for a old tom brady or an old peyton manning who both max 3 years from now you'd be looking for a long term replacement for

i believe so strongly in what this kid will become as a pro that unless i get an aaron rodgers in his prime...no dice

I would do it. because as great as Luck can be, nothing is assured, but I still would ask TB for a little bit more for the chance at taking a possible all world QB.

They need to give us Freeman, their 1st, their 2nd in this draft, and a 2013 2nd.

The situation you described? No.

I love Josh Freeman. I honestly think he will bypass Dan Marino's fourth quarter comeback record(and might do it pretty damn soon). But it would take more then the offer you presented to get Andrew Luck.

In my opinion, it would take a top rated passer, a pro-bowl player(both those players being young), a first round pick, and other draft picks. The only scenario that would make me instantly accept would be: Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, a first rounder, and a third, with possibly more players/late round picks dabbled in. Sound insane? Consider:

Jay Cutler went for 2 first rounders, 2 third rounders, AND Kyle Orton(overrated and not good enough to be in Miami? Perhaps, but competant enough player). Cutler went for all that despite having questionable mechanics, questionable attitude, questionable decision making, and questionable accuracy.
Now, Josh Freeman is a vastly better player then Cutler. But, Andrew Luck "could" be better then both those players. This guy could very well be the best in the league for a long time after he is drafted.

Again, Andrew Luck is a blank slate. He could bust. But he could be something extremely special. For the trade you prosposed, i would not do it. It would take one of the best passers in the league, another huge difference maker, AND draft picks to walk away from Luck. Not to take anything away from Freeman(again: who i love) but in this case i would gamble big and take the chance.

you trade for a josh freeman and luck becomes this decades peyton manning and you will have egg on your faces...now if it was the rights to barkley for a freeman i would listen to that more...i like barkley a whole lot and i believe he in time becomes a franchise guy but i'm not in stone on him the way i am luck

NO WAY! First off Freeman was drafted in the old cpa era and even though he was a mid first round his compensation package is similar to what Licks would be under the new CPA. Not to mention you will most likely have to give him a extension as part of the deal. So in reality you get Freeman and the likes of

Merling
Henne
White
Smith
Misi or
Thomas

Because that is what we select in the second.

If that is not enough I live in the Tampa area and Freeman isn't PK the table! Not now not ever that is Coach Morris boy!

i'm willing to part with for andrew luck and only for andrew luck cameron wake our top 5 pick and a 1st in 2012 in a heartbeat plus a little more...for barkley i'd go top 5 pick our 1st in 2012 and a player if need be but not wake... i don't think at least right now i'd offer up wake and 2 1st rounders for barkley
