Parker remaining with the Dolphins “surprised everybody,” his agent Jimmy Gould said by phone last week. “You could have said there were 100 reasons for it not to happen. But I stepped back and said, ‘Why not?’”

So how did it happen?

“I asked DeVante, ‘Where would you like to play football?’” Gould said. “He said, ‘I want to play for the Miami Dolphins.’ I said, ‘Good because that’s where I would like you to be.’”

So Gould called general manager Chris Grier, a few days before players could begin signing with other teams on March 13. Here’s how that conversation went down:

For him to sign the contract he did, you knew he wanted to be here. Yea he has been inconsistent as hell and injured during the regular season, but even the 5th year option wasn't bad for the talent and he doesn't get in trouble.

All parties handled this real well and I hope he has matured from a "taking care of himself" aspect and puts it all together in the regular season.

Every year we hear about Parker and all his up side.. that's great and all.. I would like to see him play a 16 game season for Once..!!! And be that guy that makes the difference in some of these games to get the Win.!!!! That would Impress me.!!!

While I agree with you, to be fair he was the guy that made the difference in the Houston game last year. But yes, he needs to do that more often and stay on the field.

We were all hopeful that he would be a difference maker coming out of college, but now that hope has all but diminished. The guy has talent, but,IMHO, not the grit to play in the league.

really surprised he wanted to stay here with all the unfulfilled expectations and pressure. Still holding out 0 hope he will even be a decent starter in this league, but I'm fine with him being here at a decent price. Hopefully he finds some new confidence w Flores that he never had w Gase.

Every off-season we hear the improvement he has made and how much better a player he is. What you do in training camp means nothing. How about go out and produce in two consecutive regular season games before people start raving about him? Until then, there is nothing to see here.

Because...

what's more reliable than info from a players agent?

I hope he does great, gets LOADS of preseason action...

THEN

gets traded before the start of the season.

Next draft is going to be HUGE for this team, get something of value for him while that is still possible.

Devante Parker is the only one who can keep Devante Parker from being Devante Parker.

Jarvis Landry had to out work everyone else to become Jarvis Landry.

Devante Parker never had to outwork anyone for anything. He hit the genetic jackpot.

There is still a beast within that gifted frame he has, I am not going to hold my breathe expecting to see it week in and week out. If it happens, it's just a bonus at this point.

I do think he's matured enough and cares enough about his own legacy that he's not just here for a paycheck.

Brian Flores, like is the case with so many players on this roster, might be exactly what DVP needed.

Kind of reminds me of the Tony Martin situation....but he decided to stay here. Hopefully like Martin, he can turn it around and stay healthy and develop to his talent level!

All keeping him tells me is that there weren't any good opportunities to land a real receiver, so they went with the "**** it, why not?" option in a throwaway season. Maybe he'll surprise and stop being a weenie and a bust, but I'm certainly not counting on it.

I really do wonder how badly Gase mismanaged this team. Some of the stuff I hear seems borderline unbelievable...but after you hear enough accounts like this one, things stop being called "coincidence" and start being called "evidence."
