This post is more of a rumbling than anything...beware if it lacks cohesion...

So the boldin saga is over. I really wanted him like many of you did but it looks like BP and JI have decided to go elsewhere. No biggie I guess but getting him would have, if healthy, solidified our wideout core for at least 3 years. It may have even made TG turn into something useful. That is not worth talking about as he is a Raven now.

However, we did sign dansby. That is a great pickup, assuming he can get the most out of brain-dead crowder by hiding all of his missed gap assigments. That leaves us working on the outside linebackers. Is Wake good enough to be an every down linebacker instead of a pass rush specialist. God I hope so...

I wanted Rolle as well. Anything would be a great pickup over Gerbil. However he didn't come cheap but we still have a glaring weakness at FS and Bell, no matter how hard the guy hits, isn't the greatest in coverage. Make that 2 holes in the secondary that will need upgrading. Maybe not with Bell this year or next but we need another SS in the next year or two IMO. Clemons as a FS hasn't proven anything yet but he hasn't had much playing time either.

So, where do we go. Dez is a great athlete but I don't like the baggage that is coming along with that guy as well as the history of WR being busts in the first round. I think we have to go defense and pick up another LB like Kindle (he has fallen for some reason in the mocks that I have seen to near the 20 spot), or Earl Thomas out of Texas or even one of the top 3 NT may be staring us in the face.

Bottom line here is that we are in quite the quagmire in terms of team needs with this pick. We have to make DAMN sure that whomever we take, is THE guy that isn't going to be a reach. Signing Boldin would have made this easier IMO but at a cost. Picking up Boldin along with Dansby and then having a guy like Thomas, Kindle, MCclain or Dan Williams would have been a kick *** way to start the offseason.

I guess we gotta believe. I am glad Penny is going to be back. Let's hope that Henne is really soaking it in this offseason and getting his reps with the WR's. I cannot wait for this draft. It is the make or break draft for the team and ultimately our F.O. IMO.

Any insight you guys have would be great.

July cannot get here fast enough....
