Asiata - now we know

I'd make him a center. Yeah the cement shoes was mentioned long ago

Hopefully it's something he can overcome and be a special player for us.

I'd love to see him play this Sunday.

I am not sure anything has been made any clearer about his future.

He should've play last week and he better play this week. No redshirts here. If your out of playoff contention you better start evaluating your roster ASAP.

If that's the problem then why did they even draft him? I'm not sure how much faster he can get. He looks like a mauler which is not what this team does....smh

Ozzy rules!!

Isn't he ~340 lbs? Maybe 320 would help. There are ways to teach quick feet A LITTLE.

Thanks for posting. I hope he plays this Sunday. We need to see how he does and how that effects us in the draft next year.

I would have felt better if he'd said something like "I need to get quicker," but "feet in cement?" I admit, that worries me.

We drafted a slow offensive guard whose game doesn’t really fit the scheme from a move stand point

Only guy we drafted that was an odd fit

*sigh* he sounds like a great young man who would reflect well on the Fins within the league and community. I really hope he can get it together.

Like many of us on draft day, I was distressed when other well ranked OGs were drafted and finally breathed a sigh of relief when Asiata's name was called. Supposedly we were getting a 3rd round talent for a 5th round price. So I had very high hopes.

I can understand where Foerster was so coked out and smitten with his whore that he was derelict in his duties of developing Asiata how he should have been. However, DeGuglielmo is a seasoned coach who know's "what's what." And with our OL needs, and him still being deactivated or on the sidelines, I started to realize that Isaac was at best gonna be a "work in progress" rather than a plug in answer.

So I hope for the best, am rooting for him, but again, in the collective wisdom of the league (just like when every team had no interest in Tannenbum himself), Asiata ended up being taken in the 5th round for a reason. Another example where TBum and his lackey Grier obviously thought they were smarter than everyone else, not the step behind that they mostly are.

This has been explained multiple times on here. The issue that was obvious in the first week of Training Camp was Asiata's lack of physical strength. The Defensive linemen were able to toss him around. From what I understand, Asiata is very big (biggest player on the roster). His objective all season was to significantly improve his physical strength and in the offseason that is still his #1 priority. The coaching staff like Christiansen have talked about it being a red-shirt year for Asiata for months and that is how it has turned out. This is the approach taken by teams like Green Bay and Minnesota for late round Draft picks they like but are not ready to play. I expect Asiata to be in strong contention next season.
