Ok guys i really want to pick your brains. For arguments sake Miami continues to suprise and not only wins out but wins with conviction. What needs to fall in place or happen for Our Dolphins to make the playoffs with a wild card? What are the obvious ways and and not so obvious ways? I would love to see how you guys see it.

Well it's pretty simple how it needs to be done. The teams that lead their divisions in the AFC need to win nearly all their games, and the teams that don't clench a spot would need to lose the rest of theirs. No one team in our division this year is really having a run-away season. So it's not mathematically impossible for us to get in range, but, well...it's still impossible.

Crap load of losses from 2nd tier teams (Bengals, Jets, Bills, Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs)

Either the Ravens or Steelers will get that 1st WC imo.

Buffalo, Denver, SD, NY Jets, Tennessee, Baltimore all need to start losing.

As it stands, there are 6 games left to play. Miami is 3 games behind the wildcard spot right now. Realistically 4 games due to tie breakers.

Of those, I feel like the only real competition is the Bengals.

Its a moot point though, because the Dolphins will at least lose to the patriots, finishing 8-8 best case scenario.

well, first we would need to go 9-7, which is obvious.

if we did that, well here is how it goes.

lets start with afc east teams. pats win division, not a factor. us going 9-7 means we beat the jets one more time, so we would win a tiebreaker based on better division record, they would just need to lose one more game ( at eagles dec 18th good chance). as for the bills, we would have beaten them another time to give them their 6th loss and we get the tiebreaker with a head to head sweep, so all we would need for them is to lose 1 more game, which if u see the way they look now, its without a doubt going to happen. afc east teams scenario pretty simple.

afc south- texans win division, not a factor. colts 0-10, not a factor. jaguars 3-7, not a factor. titans have 5 losses, and they just look lost. locker played solid today coming in for hasselbeck, but overall, they will lose at least a couple more games this year, not really worried about them.

afc north- say ravens win the division. steelers get 1st wildcard. browns are not a factor. bengals now have 4 losses, and all 4 are in the conference. they still gotta go to pittsburgh, play balt one more time, play houston, they still got a couple more tough games left. gaining 3 games on them will be tough, but as well as they look even in their losses, with a rookie qb, it may catch up to them, and they can end up losing enough games. we shall, see , they are deffinetly are toughest obstacle.

afc west- chiefs we beat head to head, so tiebreaker is not an issue, and with palko at qb for them, does not look like they are going to stay in their. chargers are 2 games ahead of us ( 1 overall but have tiebreaker). that team is only going downhill. the raiders are 3 games ahead, but good chance they win the division, but we still get to play them, and they still got tough games vs green bay, detroit, chicago, so they can easily fall apart.

bottom line, it would take beyond a miracle to do it, but if we win out and go 9-7, who the hell knows. its a pipe dream basically, but enjoy while we can.

The Fins are not going to the playoffs. However, take it one game at a time and look for the improvement of the D and development of some young guys.

these last few games makes it seems like the good 'ol days but we are 2-7. Its not going to happen.

Correct. Bengals are our biggest obstacle. Assuming the Dolphins win out and finish 9-7, we'll need Cinci to lose 4 more games (they have 3 tough ones against Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Houston left).

Winning the division is more realistic than the WC. Bills and jests will be lucky just to finish over .500. Patsies are frauds. They'll probably hold on to the division, but there's a chance the wheels could fly off.

its not that impossible. there are not any real powerhouse teams in the AFC this season. Balt and Pitt - out of them 1 is garunteed the wildcard basically. if we were to win out somehow, i think its very possible we can get in but it all depends on cinci. so start rooting against them, unless we lost again and we want to keep the jests out.

we are only 2 games behind the jets and most other teams. i dont see us catching up to the pats but i def see us possibly beating them. the bills actually scare me more, since they will have a second crack at us at home in a few weeks. the most scary games left are pats/jets/cowboys imo. if we get through dallas somehow. you ever know.

All those conference losses are killers. Had we beaten the Browns and Broncos, we'd be in good shape for the Wildcard.
