With the talk of Wallace becoming available it got me to thinking at what position is Miami actually worse off then last year? The obvious one is WR and as much of a long shot as it is, I would think with Wallace Miami would have improved at that position. Marshall is a great volume WR, but is more of a possession guy. Miami has possession receivers but needs that home run guy. Anyway, the Wallace thing is unlikely. I have heard all offseason how bad Miami was doing and how they could be the worst team in football and I was just wondering what positions they are actually worse at. On offense, the QB position is obviously better since they have last years starter and added a vet and rookie. At RB, it can't be worse since they have everyone from last year and added Miller. At TE the same thing since they lost no one and added Egnew and Brown. At O-line they lost 2 starters who were awful and added a rookie and some vets. Even if I can't say for sure the Oline is better, it can't be worse. On the Dline they lost Langford and drafted Vernon. I guess that position hasn't improved but it was our deepest position. The LB position added some minor pieces but didn't lose anyone so it isn't worse. The secondary lost Bell so I guess someone could say safety is worse off today then last year although he was certainly on the decline. Not that I think we are a greatly improved team or anything but the same team with an easier schedule shouldn't be the worst team in football.

every year every fanbase of every team in the league thinks their team is stronger at the start of camp. Blinded by optimism is the modus operandi for most people. It is when the season unfolds where the weaknesses really show and reveal themselves fully

We aren't markedly stronger at TE and Safety that's for sure - maybe in two years Egnew and the BYU product will be something

I am more worried about safety than I am tight end. I actually think tight end is going to be stronger because of the continued development of Charles Clay. Also adding Egnew in the third round helps bolster depth.

I didn't ask where we weren't stronger. I asked where we are weaker. It is not blind optimism or whatever. I am not saying that the team should be so much better then last year. I am asking where we are weaker. Obviously WR and it seems safety is a concern.

I think the safety position could surprise us, jimmy wilson has looked good and bell was a liability at times last year, certainly not a position of strength tho. As for where we have got weaker.. would have to be wr and the defensive line with the switch to 4-3.

Good post. I think wide receiver may be the only one, although we are really depending on a lot of young players to step up in the secondary as well. As much as I liked Yeremiah Bell I do think it was time to see what the young guys back there can do. I keep saying that this year is about finding out what we have with some young guys so that moving forward the front office can evaluate where we need to make changes.

I have to second this. I remember so many passes early in the season last year that could of been picked off so easily but due to lack of communication and leadership we it turned into huge plays. Towards the end of the year I feel Y.B. really picked up the pace and played better. I feel his leadership maybe missed but I also like what I see in younger safteys like culver and wilson. My second biggest concern has always been the WR core. Even with marshall we really didn't have anyone else to draw double coverage or just strike a bit of concern into defensive backs. Wallace would make a huge addition to this offense but I highly doubt he would want to play for us or if he did that we would have his type of money.

I know he is a fan favorite but show me a report stating that Jimmy Wilson has looked good so far? He just took over 2 days ago for an injured Clemons and maybe you attended Training Camp to draw this conclusion?

No one can draw any real conclusion about a player in the first two days of camp. Wilson is a second year player that is changing positions. Im hardly expecting brilliance.

Safety is a gaping wound. We were already in rough shape there before cutting Bell and did nothing to fix that. We are going to be relying on young players who havent shown they can do the job so far. I will not be surprised if that position causes us to lose a few games.

I would say safety, WR, and back up MLB are the greatest weakness.

Through my rose tinted glasses we are stronger everywhere on O bar WR. On D safety is a weakness but I'm not sure we are that much weaker, Bell was getting on in years but we will miss his leadership. The rest of the D whether we are stronger or weaker is largely due to the scheme and how the players adapt to it I think. You have to remember though that this is before the start of the season, a few injuries here or there and suddenly we could have huge weaknesses e.g. if Wake got injured our pass rush would be very poor I think.

QB - deeper and more athletic
RB - more speed & better fit for this offence
WR - deeper, but missing the stud
TE - more athletic
OL - more athletic

DL - with the new front, by default- more athletic
LB - push
DB - less experienced, more athletic
