Attending Sept. 12th Monday Night Game vs. PATS

Congrats on the anniversary and present. Awesome. Got an idea. We see a good number of these threads a year. It would be nice if a couple members from the Miami area could put together a sticky detailing some of this info.

1. Hotels
2. Restaurants
3. Beahes
4. Clubs
And any other local favorite things to do that an out of towner really should try not to miss.

Just a small start that could be added to by us tourists and Miami residents alike.

its about the same to fly to Miami but I would also have to pay for a hotel I have family in San Diego so I dont have to pay to stay anywhere

Strange. I paid $160 round trip for a September flight to FL. Looking at the same dates to fly to San Diego, I'd be looking at $381 roundtrip. I do understand the free lodging though so that's cool.

the ticket round trip was like 295 and when I looked for a flight to Miami it was about 250 I diddnt really search too hard tho I do plan on coming to a home game soon hopefully next year

yeah I just saw tickets for around 180 to Miami but Im gonna be in san diego for 5 days so the flight and hotel def would be more

I don't know if you already have airline tickets but:

JetBlue has a direct flight from Richmond to Fort Lauderdale. I am a season ticket holder living in Williamsburg, VA and we always try to fly JetBlue. We'll be at the Pats game (flying down on Saturday).

Pass by West 24.. Best tail gate party! You can have a nice dinner at South Beach and visit Ilovemiamispice.com since a lot of the top restaurants participate and its bang for your buck! if not Prime112 is the spot. You might catch a couple of athletes or celebs there. Saturday night, check out LIV at the Fountain Bleau. Best and biggest club on South Beach. If not SET, Manison, Cameo or Space (If you like the night life). Casino fan, hands down Hard Rock is a must! Good Luck and enjoy Miami!!

once you guys get to FL how far are you from the stadium and how do you get to the stadium? thats the one thing that makes me uneasy I wouldnt know how I would get to the stadium. I went to a game in Charlotte but the hotel was literally across the street from the stadium is there any that close?

We get a rental car. The stadium is pretty far from the airport (FLL - about 20 minutes. MIA - maybe about the same?) and the only hotel nearbly is El Palacio which doesn't look that great (from the outside - I haven't stayed there).

I always stay in North Miami Beach when I go down. The stadium's only 20 minutes away right off Ives Dairy Road. People complain that it isn't easy to get to but I've never had an issue with it.

If you plan way in advance people from out of state can do this trip for really cheap. Me and my Gf (die hard eagles fan) planned our trip as soon as the schedule came out.
459 for 2 round trip tickets from nj too FL. 4-star Hotel in hollywood beach on the water from thur-mon for 395. Rental car 83.
total with out our game ticket is 937.00 for the 2 of us.

Yea Jetblue is the number one choice for flying out of Richmond. Sucks if you didn't have tickets because they just ended a sale for $64 one ways from RIC to FLL . . . $150 RT after taxes I was getting (I do travel) and that includes a carryon and one bag under the plane. Delta has some $180 RT deals for those dates as well.

As far as things things to do . . . really depends on your age. If you are young and want to hit the clubs, personally I would hit South Beach on Friday Night and then hit the Hard Rock on Saturday night. Enjoy the Beach on Sunday. You probably understand you should get a car rental if you "really" wanna do some sightseeing. The Miami/Metro Zoo is still decent but skip the Seaquarium . . . it sucks, especially for the price. If your are based out of Fort Lauderdale, give Las Olas or Beach Place a try. Key Largo is nice, if you wanted you could also take a day trip down to Key West or even spend a night down there. Plenty of snorkeling and jet skiiing to be done, but you aren't that far from Va Beach being in Richmond, so you can do that when you want if you really wanted to do it.

Shopping I would suggest Aventura or the Sawgrass . . . of course if you got it, you can blow a wad on South Beach on Lincoln Road. Sawgrass Mills is the largest Outlet Mall in the country . . . usually has something for everybody out there. Aventura I believe is the 4th largest mall in the country.

Everglades is nice. They have some real solid tours out there. If it is hot as it is right now, you may wanna skip though. The heat, humidity and swamp is a bad combo IMO . . . but it can be fun. Consider a day cruise as well out of Miami.

Most people wanna have Cuban food. You can hit 8th Street . . . Versailles is real popular outside of Calle Ocho. Joe's Stone Crabs is popular on SOBE.

Alot of stuff to do, just depends on what you wanna do.

Great Post Kdawg954!

September 12th cannot get here fast enough. We are renting a car, so we will be free to do whatever we want.

My wife suprised me with tickets to the Monday night opener against the Patriots for our anniversary.
Does she have a hot sister?

I'm jealous.
Me too.

Being a Dolphins fan and living out west sucks.

Will a crazy mother do? lol

It used to not be so bad when I lived in VA Beach back in the early 90's when Marino was still playing because it seemed like the Fins were on cbs or nbc every sunday. But now that I moved to King William we get the Ravens or STeelers.

I refuse to pay to crazy amount for the Sunday Ticket. I will say I did do it one year...2007...1-15...are you kidding me, the one time I splurge the fins go 1-15.

I am definately going to enjoy the time while I'm down there. Who knows maybe I'll run into some of you at the game.

Yea I'm still contemplating going to the game or not . . . I rather enjoy vibing in the chat with fellow finheaveners, watching the game. I probably do that atleast half of the games during the year. It's cheap and you won't get better football input at a bar or at a friend's house. Plus if I got I have to bring the ol' lady with me, because everybody else is broke
