In regards to the Pete Carroll story: Is Wayne really dumb enough to give his next coach complete power again? How many times must this structure fail?

I hardly post here but am a constant lurker. I've already emailed the Dolphin orginization and hope you do as well. 7 of the 8 teams still currently in the playoffs have a GM with personnel say.

I'm visiting as many Dolphin boards as I can spreading this message. Also, some of us have talked about getting together a large amount of fans and chipping in some cash in order to take out a full-paged add in a Miami newspaper.

If any of you have interest in that, let it be known and we'll see if we can get enough people to make the cost reasonable (a couple of bucks per fan would be ideal).

I know this sounds cheesey and a little bit "grass-roots", but our owner is about to make the same mistake for the 4th consecutive time!

:rolleyes2

I'd actually pay the Phins to be able to sift through all the crazy emails from some people out there including yours.

I know Wayne was just trying to open things back up again and making the media and fans feel like they have a voice in all of this but I bet he's regretting it a little now.

4th consecutive time? Wanny you can certainly say. Jimmy used his power to give us the dominating D we had today. Saban left much to early to tell how his success would have been. And correct me if im wrong didnt Shula have complete control? That worked out OK.

Im not for or against it.

Many of JJs picks were really lucky, ZT and JT immediately come to mind. Wanny was a complete disaster, and if you read about how badly Saban paralyzed the decision making process with his need to OK everything, he was also a disaster.

Please, more often than not, HCs acting as GMs are a bad idea. Get a guy who is entirely devoted to finding players and just let the HC coach!

I sent them a email.
I said we need to bring Al Saunders into this organization and if Beason was avaiable in the 3rd round to draft him cause with Crowder and Zach teachin him he will be a future pro bowler ! :D

I don't see any minuses in giving complete control to the HC.

Giving complete control can work as long as the coach is willing to delegate certain things to other people that he trusts. Not like Saban who wanted to micromanage every little detail. Bellichick has total control, looks like that has worked out OK.

How many times have the Yanks bought a player simply because of his name/rep and had it backfire on them?? Quite often. Im implying that the Phins are trying to hire Carroll because hes a hot name right now and that he will bomb for us.
I try to be original :)

Wasn't Pete Carroll the nitwit who made the choke sign at the Dolphins' sideline after Pete Stoyanovich shanked an extra point?

Screw that guy. He was a lousy NFL coach, too.

What about Cam Cameron?

Shula was forced out the door. Not because he couldn't coach, but because his personnel ability was lost. At the time of his retirement, this team was old, overrated, and up against the cap.

JJ did fail. Our defense isn't "dominating" and for every JT or Zach I can name 2 or 3 guys such as Yatil Green, John Avery, Larry Shannon, etc.

We obviously agree on Wanny.

We don't have the benefit of history, but early returns are that Saban's drafts will be considered very underwhelming, escpecially his 2nd one.

But I guess we haven't seen enough case history with this type of model. As somebody else in here said: they fail to "see the minuses" of giving a coach complete control. I don't know how much more case history you need, but that's cool, we all get to have our opinion.

Mark me down for the money. The newspaper bit is a genius idea. It'll probably get more laughs than anything else but it will atleast show the unrelenting devotion of the fans. handing over complete control to anyone but Don Shula or Bill Belichick will be another disaster. PLEASE DOLFANS, UNITE! WE HAVE A VOICE LETS USE IT!!!
