Austin Kearns, Felipe Lopez and Ryan Wagner going to the Nationals
Gary Majewski, Bill Bray, Royce Clayton, Brendan Harris and Daryl Thompson going to the Reds

Austin Kearns, Felipe Lopez and Ryan Wagner have been traded from the Reds to the Nationals for the Gary Majewski, Bill Bray, Royce Clayton, Brendan Harris and Daryl Thompson.

Very good move for the Nats IMO. I'm surprised that the Reds did this.

Expect Soriano and Jose Guillen to be traded soon.

The REDS bullpen sucks. They have to do this if they want any chance of hanging around this year. With the addition of these 2 and Eddie Guardado they have a shot to compete the 2nd half this year.

they could of gotten bullpen without giving up 2 good young cheap hitters.

Lopez is much better than Royce Clanton and Kearns is a very good young cheap OFer I don't understand this move at all. And here I thought Jim Bowden was useless, he might have saved his job with this deal.

Probably not. Every team is in the market for bullpen help. EVERY team!

I expect Soriano to go to LAA very very very soon.

Your right they DID need the bullpen

But they just lost a huge piece of the offense that was getting them the lead, now the Pen might not have many leads to protect

The Reds did have Ryan Wagner in the minors who could be a pretty good reliever but they soured on him.

The Reds were built around their offense, now it doesn't look nearly as threatening as it once did. And you know what they say, play to your stengths. The Reds have a hitting ballpark, Majewski has been pitching in Washington -- his ERA is going to rise in that stadium. Take a a guy who has been a menace on the bathpaths this year (23 sbs) and another guy who is having a successful year, who will also be around for a long time, and you got yourself a smart deal by the Nats.

the more i look at this trade, the worse it becomes. down right horrible trade for the reds.
