Awsome Marino Article

As much as our rival fans like to remind us that Marino never won a ring and they love to say players like Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, Mark Rippen and Jay Schrader were all better "cause they have SB rings":rolleyes2: I think it's quite obvious why Marino was first ballot HOF'er. He went in with Steve Young and while Steve also has a ring, that HOF induction was all about Marino. He gets the respect he's earned.

Great article. I agree completely with the writer, but God do i wish Danny boy had won a Super Bowl.

He is still the greatest QB in the history of the NFL, imo.

Yes and no. I still think he is the most talented QB to ever play and definitely in the top three, but I would still have to put Unitas and Montana ahead of him.

Dan Fouts and Warren Moon never got a ring, but that doesn't take away how awesome they were. Dan's rocket right arm, his uncanny pocket presense, his intensity, and leadership will live on forever in the minds football fans. 20 years from now, I'll bet that Dan is still a Top 10 All Time great quarterback. Dan Marino is timeless.

Just Curious. Other than Super Bowls, what makes you put them ahead of him?
With Unitas, you have the precedent. Would Marino or anyone be who they were without his example? Plus, he played at a time when the NFL was more of a part-time job while he also worked full-time at a steel mill. Accomplishing what he did while working another incredibly physical job on the side was an even greater feat. With Montana I misspoke a little. He and Marino are more like 2a and 2b to me. Montana did have a better team around him, but unlike the others mentioned in the article (*cough*Trent Dilfer*cough*), the teams didn't win the games in spite of him. Montana was a significant factor in the wins, both from a talent and a leadership aspect. Marino, like I said, was the most talented QB to ever play the game. Trust me, I am not talking down about him. Marino was a revered name in my house growing up (behind Jesus). What he did was amazing and I will argue to the death with someone who says Favre or anyone is better than him. I just hold the three mentioned on equal footing, giving Unitas the slight edge.

u cant be serious . montana had a chicken arm. they said that montana would not be able 2 cut it in the nfl today cause he didnt have a nfl arm and thats the reason they did the west coast offense. how can a respectable dolphin fan say that montana is better than marino

Marino was the ****. I really thought late in his days we would get that ring. OH WELL. Hes my fav QB of all time.

GO DOLPHINS.............#1

The fact that I can go to a bar and have a conversation with Giants fans (even Pats fans) and so on and they admit Marino was the best to play tells you something. The only thing people will ever mention is the ring, but then you mention names like Dilfer, etc and their whole arguement is kind of thrown out the window.

I have to disagree, just think about this: Can you imagine the 49ers with Dan Marino at QB?? Even coach Bill Walsh said " Montana was a product of the system, Marino was The system.

for me Dan Marino is the greatest pure passer in the NFL, no one is even close.

:woot:

If Marino had been with the SF, that dynasty would've spanned two decades. The Niners would've been the most dominant franchise of all time.
