In what was the worst offensive performance of the year — and arguably the best defensive performance of the year — the San Diego State Aztecs survived five offensive turnovers and escaped with a 24-19 win over Colorado State at Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday night.
In front of an announced crowd of 34,680, freshman running back Ronnie Hillman ran for 151 yards and a touchdown to help SDSU (7-2, 4-1) win its fourth straight game, locking up the Aztecs’ first winning season since 1998.
