One thing you've got to keep in mind, like it or not, this is a very arrogant regime with Parcells and Ireland. They know better than anyone else --- and most times they do, but sometimes they don't. And in the case with Booker, Phila raped us. Book will have a very positive career with the Eagles and we'll be hearing ad infinitum “he didn’t fit our system.” I say BS. Since when doesn’t a young playmaker fit into a “system?” (Yea, I know he's not 6-2 225lbs but he's got legit gamebreaking skills!)

For those who remember, this is a direct contradiction to what Sparano stated about “fitting the system to our personnel.” Obviously, there’s a disconnect between certain aspects of the vaunted “trifecta.” Sparano was also very high about getting Book more involved in the offense --- singling him out on his early evaluation of the roster. One way or another, we trashed one of the bright spots we had on offense for a 4th round pick. Sorry, I see no value in that and consider the trade a flat out loser (grade F).

But here’s the big one to me; the JT trade opportunity was handled very poorly. Obviously we were trying to trade the guy --- so many reports with credible sources are not erroneous, and even WH stated publically JT would be better off somewhere else, yet we blow the deal. DelRio was very candid about the discussions, to which Ireland obviously lied at the PC on Saturday. If you doubt this, check out his reaction to the question about the JT trade at the end of the tape on the Fins website. Put simply, JT to Jax was a perfect scenario for all parties concerned but our greed exploded in our face.

Bottom line, no way JT was going to command a #1, but we played hard ball with Jax and they simply went to option B --- and traded aggressively on two occasions to get their outside rusher. The 2nd round pick we could have put in the bank vanished, and with that we’re left with a player that doesn’t fit into our plans and doesn’t want to be here. IMO that lands an F grade to an opportunity that was a no brainer. And the denial as a means of covering backsides is absolutely totally armature crap.

As far as the draft, all in all I like the focus on the LOS, and contrary to what some have been saying around here --- our RB situation has a lot of serious questions. Ronnie’s return to form and RW’s dependability being the obvious concerns. So investing in a few big backs with upside is a good move.

We did reach at least twice in the draft (Langford and Murphy) but I don’t have a big issue with that in the middle/latter rounds. Overall, our draft looks quite solid on paper. And that’s what really sucks --- if we hadn’t botched the JT trade the draft could have been spectacular. But then again, that’s ALL just my opinion…

I really hate the Booker trade as well and was extremely pissed when they annouced that.

I would say this. Dont judge the Booker deal until you see what Parmele can do. Yes, Book will make plays for Philly, I fully expect it, but there is validity to the idea of systems and fit.

PS Calling any draft day move a 'failure' on Sunday night is pretty idiotic if you ask me.

Just so you understand the logic you're employing, it would be just as "idiotic" to term any draft day move a success.

But lo and behold, we all make those value judgments, don’t we?

To not understand this is truly idiotic.

:)

Where did I call it a success? You called two picks a failure.

why is everybody so hung up on booker...
If he was so good for us... Why did he only play in 7 games last year??

Because he was a spark plug and the best thing about our 1-15 season.

Wait, that came out wrong. No, it didnt. Its the truth. Lorenzo was SO attractive, because after watching our stagnant offense (and team) for 8 weeks, he was a breath of fresh air. He'll do well in Philly, dont get me wrong its a system that is made for his skillset, but Im hoping Parmele makes us forget about him pretty quickly.

saying the JT trade was handled poorly is not right........you ever thought that we might want to just keep JT or the Front office has other plans for him?

I agrre with your acessment, the booker trade will come back to haunt us or my name is not wes welker

Good take Finner.

Yes, BP and Company are arrogant.......Welcome to 1985. They are what they are and old dogs don't change tricks. I, personally never felt we'd trade JT. He's being a bit of a cooze, but, he'll come out and play hard like he always does and, we need a veteran on the field with the rooks. I think we played hardball because they were not going to settle for a reach for JT just to move him.

I think BP and, Company got what they wanted in this draft and, we'll see how it turns out. I think it's clear they are trying to change the culture around here.

Well - I'm not going to disagree as I was shocked that Booker got traded for a 4 and JT did not get traded at all. Of course, I am in favor of not just giving away JT.

I also agree that our RB situation is tenuous at best given the injuries. But, as far as LoBook and not fitting a system - I'm going to take a different spin on it. It's not that he doesn't fit the system, but that he is the type of back that when he is in the game the D knows that it will be something to the outside or a swing/screen pass. Whereas with a bigger back - they still have to be worried about between the tackles - ala Michael Turner and Barber. So, while it may not be system thing, it may be a methodology thing as far as NOT telegraphing what's likely to happen given a personnel package. Just my own observation.

Nope. That's 100% illusion --- it's a certainty we were actively trying to trade JT. That is absolutely not in question --- the ONLY reason it’s being denied is to circumvent the embarrassment of the way we botched the possibility.

JT is now our area 51…

I also am beginning to hate all these posts saying LoBo is not a Parcells type or wouldn't fit his system... I have one response to that... DAVE MEGGETT... The guy was a perennial BP fav and Booker was a Meggett CLONE.

I said before the draft a 3rd fpr JT was decent compensation. Sure, who wouldn't want a 1st if possible, but that was never legit.

Cam Cameron was an idiot. But really, we got our starting right guard out of the trade and he wasn't going to get much playing time behind Ronnie and Ricky this year anyways. He was getting paid 3rd round money, but wasn't going to get any playing time. Our 3rd RB is going to be Parmele, and the part that I love the most that people didn't expect is that Hilliard is going to be our FB this year. I admit, I thought we were going to have an overload at RB, but Hilliard seems quick enough and strong enough to be our FB over Mauai and Grigsby.
