B.Graham vs D. Morgan

Which would improve the Fins Defense more? And can some of the draft experts chime in and suggest how each would be used in our Defense and compare them as prospects?

I believe Brandon Graham is more of the mold we are looking for in getting a starting OLB. He can rush the passer and defend the rush extremely well. The only question will be when he drops back in coverage.

Morgan on the other hand, while a good player, he is more of a 4-3 DE from what I've seen. I kn ow Graham played 4-3 DE in college as well, but I just like his skill set to transition better to OLB then Morgan. Graham seems more fundamently sound to me as well. I think Graham would be a great pick at #12 because I am one person who thinks Ronaldo Mclain is extremely overated.

Morgan is bigger and has longer arms. Graham is probably a little faster. Both are very good prospects though.

Both excellent prospects but I would give the edge to Graham. Aside from the physical skills, Graham possesses the right attitude and work ethic. He is always around the ball and was the only playmaker on a horrendous Michigan defense last year.

Thats why I really believe we should take Graham in the first round and get Dansby via FA instead of taking Mcclain.

If Graham had a decent defense around him I think he would be a superstar at OLB. Not to mention he worked with Jake Long who is a pretty good NFL LT if I do say so myself .

He would instantly upgrade our defense just off the fact he can stop the run.(Unlike Peezy)

Graham is my guy in the first round right now , assuming Eric Berry doesnt drop to 12 magically. :chuckle:

Doubt Morgan will be there when we draft, but - assuming coverage is about equal - he'd be the pick. He's pretty good at holding up at the point of attack - uses his long arms well. And, he looks every bit as explosive as Graham, which is saying a lot. I like Graham - have posted on it a good deal - but I don't think it's too close.

I see Morgan as more of a 4-3 LDE and Graham as More of a RDE in a 4-3 or a 3-4 OLB.

Graham is a DE/OLB too but is a better OLB in my opinion. He had a decent amount of plays standing up and would transistion easier.

Morgan would be much better at 4-3 DE.

I have watched a TON of football games this year and have watched nearly all of Michigans games for the past 8 or so years and Graham IMO is one of the quickest/explosive defensive end prospects I've seen all year and compares very well to Woodley. Even quicker than Derrick Morgan from Georgia Tech.

Just a quote I found from a diffrent board, if its credible, you want the quicket most explosive player you can get.

If Morgan performs well in LB drills and can make the transition then it is a no-brainer that we take Morgan. He has the arm length and size that this FO looks for and is great against the run and has an array of pass rush moves. Would love him playing SOLB. BUt he won't be there when we pick anyway because of these facts.

morgan most likely be gone by the time we pick and he grades well. but i have a man crush for brandon graham, but i really liked vernon gholston. i guess what id like to know is if they have that mean streak, that mentallity of wanting to take the qbs head off everytime. i want that player, thats what gholston lacks.

Speaking as a Hawkeye fan, Iowa played against both players. Michigan's defense was horrible, but we could not stop Graham. He had an absolutely monster game. Derrick Morgan did absolutely nothing against Iowa in the Orange Bowl. PLEASE do NOT pick Morgan. Graham is definitely the man. Not even close. Both of our OT's Bulaga and Calloway will be drafted this year. Neither of them could stop Graham and Both of them handled Morgan without the need for double-teams.

Also, I'd put O'Brien Schofield of Wisconsin in the same catagory as Graham. More of a 3-4 OLB, maybe, but Iowa had just as much difficulty with his speed off of the edge as we did Graham. He was having a great off-season, too, until the ACL. What a shame... he could really be worth a 7th round gamble.

Having said all of that, I would trade BOTH Graham and Schofield for Jared Odrick of Penn State. What a monster! IMO he was the best player at any position in the BigTen last year. He's a man among boys. I think he could play all 3 down lineman positions.
Just my 2 cents

I was incredibly impressed w/ Graham @ the Senior Bowl. The Ideal situation IMO is come draft day; the phins drop back to the 18-22 range, acquire say 4th rd this yr, a 1st next yr, & draft Graham.

To me, Pierre-Paul would be a decent consolation prize.
