B Marsh Says Philbin wanted the trade

And it doesn't matter if Philbin wanted him gone, Philbin doesn't make the trades. Ireland makes the trades, and the owner hired a coach who wanted to get rid of our best player even though the result is the leagues worst receiving core - with NO PLAN TO REPLACE HIM IN FREE AGENCY BC ALL THE GOOD RECEIVERS ARE GONE

Actually, Philbin makes the call. Ireland executes the trade and gets the best deal for the club while fulfilling Philbin's orders. Philbin has complete control of the locker room.

So someone familiar with WCO help me out here. I hear that B.Marshall is/was not a good fit for this particular style of offense because he drop too many balls and has problems making "sure" catches in traffic. So my question..

What do we need Wr-wise to make our group ideal for the WCO i assume philben is trying to install?

1) Is it a Wr with speed like "M.Wallace"?
or
2) more shifty type guys like W.Welker/Bess?

Marshall played in a WCO in Denver so I'm not sure where you heard he wasn't a fit for that style of offfense.

Anyways, here is one person take on the WCO and the requirements of its receivers.

Receiver play: Wideouts in the West Coast offense obviously have to run very precise and sharp routes with the ability to separate from opposing defensive backs. What may be even more important, however, is the ability to make plays after the catch.

WR in WCO cannot be a distraction or be distracted they must run crisp routes and knowledge of the playbook and emotional intelligence wouldn't hurt either

I think the front office had enough of Brandon Marshall. While the trade certainly hurts the team right now and takes away one of two playmakers on offense (Bush), you just never knew what to expect from Marshall. I always had the feeling he could pull a Ricky Williams and not report or do something worse that hurt this team and organization. I do wish the Dolphins could have got more than two #3's, but you never know how those draft picks could turn out. It certainly puts wide receiver near the top of the needs list, though. Right now rolling out Brian Hartline and Davone Bess won't get you very far. I think the team will address the need early in the draft.

Like always whan I get something to share - I post.

Got a friend that has B Marsh as a client (Unfootball related). I acually didnt even know Marsh was a client of his. Last night me and my boy got together to watche the games and the Marshall trade came up. He says that he was with B Marsh on Wed. and they talked about the trade.

According to Marshall - he went to Philbin and asked what his plans were for the #1 WR. Philbin reply to him was who is the #1WR? and he was told that Miami did not think he would fit into their plans.

The trade had nothing to do with the incident in NY. The trade was developed well in advance.

Now I dont know what the plans are but right now they are not looking good.
I dont think Philbin would have the authority to just say "I dont want the best WR on the team here any more" and they just trade him away
I dont know if the plans include P Manning
I dont know anything other then what I just posted above.

But i will tell you this, WHATEVER it is that Philbin has planned it better work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to question his judgement and I have to believe there is no plans to win now.

I'mk not sure how long my blood will remain orange and teal...

No there is no link to this!!!!!!!!!!
No this is no rumor!!!!!!!!!!
No this is not my opinon!!!!!!!
Those that know me know I dont post BS false things............
just figured I would share what info I got on this.
It's really simple.

Philbin and Sherman use West Coast Offense (WCO) derivations. WCO is a pass based, Where you throw the ball trying to get a lot of yards after catch. This requires receivers that don't drop passes and can follow a big number of routes. BM isn't close to such model.

Brandon Marshall is a go-to-receiver, one that beats cornerbacks in physical challenges and it's a fact he's a beast. But he's one of those receivers that can make a great catch or drop even easy passes.

Such style of player goes well in a system that creates 5-7 steps in throwing plays. WCO is more of a 3-5 steps to throw.

$25 million for 9 TD receptions over 2 years says it all.

There are some young receivers that had more or the same production in one season last year.

Not so sure about that ... but the public doesn't know precisely.

From what has been spoken publicly ... the opposite is true ... Ireland calls the shots, PERIOD (probably solicits opinions & listens to Philbin as any good working relationship will benefit). It has been published several times that Ireland has sole responsibility over all personnel matters. Probably especially true with Philbin being new to the organization.

That makes Philbin in charge of coaching & giving feedback to Ireland. We may learn more & this may evolve over time ... its an important issue for the Dolphin fans that needs answering with more factual information!!

Based on how things went last season I'm sure they BOTH wanted to trade Brandon.

It's a shame he had to get into trouble like he did, or I'm sure we wold have gotten a MUCH better deal from the Bears.

Marshall was a head case. All the passes and yards he got here and all the passes and yards he got back when he was playing with Cutler at the Broncos didn't get EITHER team to the superbowl. Too many fins fans have a hard time understanding that football is a TEAM Sport. We are a better team without Marshall here believe it or not. We won the AFC East without Marshall here, remember? We didn't accomplish didley with him here. Just like TO didn't really help Dallas all that much.

It does sound exactly what the reports are, that this was in the plans since the combine. We must have saw something we really liked in the combine, and thought some extra picks would offset the impact Marshall brings. And if you look at GB's offense from last year, they spread the ball around almost more then any other team, no true number 1. No reason for you to make this crap up.

Lol, or maybe the GM on the team is not that good and same goes for the coach. B. Marshall for 2 3rd round picks is unacceptable...

Are you sure about that? It was my understanding based on a post-Philbin-hiring interview with Ireland that he was there to "Do whatever he can to get Coach Philbin what he wants," or something along those lines.

Certainly, neither of us knows for sure. I wonder if the big Tuna-installed segregation of office management and football operations has collapsed after this whole fiasco Ross has been dealing with for the past few years.

I think it would benefit the team to have Philbin and Ireland working closely together, and that seems to be the case based on what we've heard so far. Correct me if you have anything that suggests otherwise.
