Just curious why he fell so far. I wonder if San Diego got a steal. And he was available as we picked Smith and Wright. Alot of our last few picks were head scratchers. They all were intriguing in retrospect, but at the time made very little sense. I can't help but think back to some of Muellers draft analysis: He was strong in the early rounds but later round success was less than desirable. The athletic CB Courtney Brown was still available until just before our first 7th rounder. Mkristro Bruce was still there through out the 7th. Luckily we got him signed later.

It sounds like a lot of teams were scared off by his character. I heard that he thought pretty highly of himself, too highly, and some teams didn't like his ****iness. I also read that he played too 'stiff'. I imagine those were the two biggest reasons behind his freefall...I still would rather have him than anyone else we drafted in the seventh.

I agree, Siler fell because of character. But he also fell bc he doesn't have that side line to side line range at middle LB that most teams look for. He's also a liability in pass coverage. He is very solid at filling the hole between the tackles though. But I think he was drafted right where he should have been. I don't know where those 2nd and 3rd round pre-draft grades were coming from on this guy.

i can tell you that i interviewed siler personally for our website, and to say that he was ****y or arrogant is the FURTHEST from the truth. This kid was a class act and was very humble and respectable. He dropped so far because the were worried about his size and speed. Siler will be a pretty good NFL linebacker, at least in my opinion.

I've Watched The Kid Play. Personally I Was For Us Picking Him Up.
We've Picked Up Alot Worst Than Him. He Is A True Leader. He Will Show In The Years To Come.

Weaknesses:
Is not an elite athlete...Timed speed, quickness and agility are only average...Not very explosive and lacks a burst...He does not have great range...Lacks fluid hips and struggles in coverage...Has some trouble shedding blockers...Might be more of a two down thumper...Ball skills are sub par...He may not have a huge upside.

Notes:
Started as a true frosh and was named SEC Freshman of the Year...A very good college player who might not be the pro prospect his press clippings would lead you to believe...Has starting potential but will be held back by marginal physical tools and he'll likely have to play in a scheme that hides his coverage deficiencies.

reading rumors before the draft, I saw that multiple scouts and GMs said that they would not draft Siler at all.

I did hear that Siler had some horrible workouts.

I personally think it was more because he wasn't even the best linebacker on the team. Earl Everett consistantly out played him. Even from before this past season while watching him in practices you could CLEARLY tell what his weaknesses were.

He loves to go for the big hit. He plays EXTREMELY stiff. He's horrible in coverage. And he can't play sideline to sideline. (Hr also doesn't wrap up when tackling... he hasn't done it for his whole time at Florida.)

What made him successful is that he made plays behind the line of scrimmage and he has the personality seperate himself from the rest of the linebacking corps.

I think Earl is a MUCH better player.

To be honest his backup was probably better just not as experienced. Brandon Spikes is gonna be an absolute beast the next couple years.

Siler played behind a very strong and fast D-line, there fore his aforementioned weaknesses did not seem apparent during games. Alot of team scouts realized this, and that is why he dropped.

Yeah!!! Me and Motion are all over the Spikes Bandwagon

Yeah. I've been to a couple of practices and Spikes is HUGE. Not just wide but he seems like one of the taller kids out there.

i wanted us to draft him too, he'll be a good player if he stays out of trouble...
